OT: Movie Thread II

Wow.

Marvel hit an absolute grand slam.

Believe the Rotten Tomatoes score.

This movie legitimately brought me to tears.

Easily Marvel’s most adult movie, delving into themes such as substance abuse, mental illness, depression, and regret.

This is definitely the most “heartfelt” movie in the MCU.

I’m Immediately going to rank it up there with Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, and Infinity War/Endgame.

More than makes up for the recent duds of Quantumania, Love and Thunder, and the mediocre Brave New World.

Hoping the empty theater I saw it in was an abnormality and this makes bank.

Watched Aussie possession horror, Talk To Me last night. REALLY liked it. Sort of a downer. Watched it in not the best mental state and it didn't help. But the movie is really well done. It was on Netflix I believe.

Re-watched Alien: Romulus last night.

Still a 10/10 terrific movie.

Phenomenal. Just Phenomenal.
An hour into it now. The setup is so simple but so effective. I’m really enjoying this one.

Edit: second half is even better. Movie just ramps up steadily for the entire two hours.

I like the fact that it's clear the director understands how an Alien movie should be, but also putting his own spin on it. Clearly he's played Alien Isolation!

And the practical effects are just icing on the cake. Finding a 7ft guy to play ____ was incredible.

I told my better half that it was awesome how straight forward it was. They had plenty of callbacks to earlier films in the series that were all done really well, the story stayed in line with the original material, and they still found some new tricks/gimmicks to make it feel like just an extension of Alien/Aliens. It's hard to explain. It was the same...but different. I loved it. Thanks for the reminder that it existed!

It was a surprise to me how incredible it was. Box office surprise too. They're making a sequel as well. Which is a good call because that actress who played Rain is phenomenal.

That entire cast really was great.

I'm a huge fan of practical effects. Green screen and CGI is okay for some things, but nothing beats the practical side.

She was outstanding. I loved Noomi Rapace in Prometheus too.

Sigourney Weaver is just. Well. Nothing will ever match those first two films. But yeah, these other two leading ladies knocked it out of the park
