It’s unfathomable how ”thin” the Oilers roster is. Tragic, really. I’d feel bad for the Oilers fans, if not for the fact that they’ve experienced one of the greatest dynasties in hockey history, and it’s tough to feel any pity for them (or the Habs, Isles, Hawks, Wings, Penguins or Lightning) as a result.

Getting the opportunity to watch McDrai for 10+ years is a pretty good constellation prize.

With the way things are going they won’t win a cup before they hit UFA, but at least they've been thoroughly entertained and had the opportunity to watch a generational player for 800+ games. More than what most fans can say.

Oilers need(ed) to revamp their D .
Very hard to do but still possible .
Look at my Devils . Fitz has shit lined up for a long time prior , targeting potential players that teams would have no room for once they had cap issues .
Graves - Avs could not afford to keep him
Seigenthaler - same thing with the Caps .
Marino - Fitz knew that if pens extended Malkin and Letang , he probably would be available .

That’s 3 good - great defensive D added for essentially very little .
3 guys that would fit right in what the Oilers need . Big D that are very good defensively yet also good at transitioning the puck .
And that’s 3 examples that using just my team . I’m sure there has to be other examples out there ( Toews is an extreme example)

It’s almost like .. you have to use your head and be proactive being a GM …. Addressing needs …..

clearly an oilers fan with these lopsided, nonsensical offers.

So I got one In your same vein of awful valuation.

McDavid and a 3rd rounder for Erik Johnson, JT Compher and a Frankie.

here is a hint for you, you didn’t put forth a single asset of real value from the oilers in any of your four proposals.

Ryan doesn't make the Leafs roster and he is above league min. Doesn't make any sense for the Leafs. Simmonds takes no cap when he is waived.

Adding a physical forward like Anderson has been suggested many times... and would add some sandpaper to the existing high-end skill.

For Puljujarvi + 1st for Anderson? We'd need to tweak it a bit so it works cap-wise, but something should be possible.

We tend to undervalue Anderson as habs fans because he is so polarizing. Dominant one shift invisible the next. If Pulijujarvi is the return I’d sooner keep Anderson because im not convinced EDM doesnt try to keep their 1st for a different deadline add. If the return is adequate or even an overpay then im all for trading him this deadline, but I wouldn’t hate keeping him on the Habs either.

The first pick is on the wrong side here .. plus Oilers shouldn’t really add another Kasian ( which Anderson is on a path towards being )
Anderson contract is trash
