I would fire management too. They aren’t to blame for what happened but they aren’t suited for trading vets for picks. They’ll just f*** up those picks.

Either you trade the guys with term for prospects you like or don’t even bother.

Sign Bertuzzi, if he's willing, then go after picks for JDB, Gryz, Carlo, Ullmark etc.

Lauko as full-time 3rd liner for cheap.
Yep, this was the last dance. DS did his best to build around the core for one last shot at things. Time to blow it up. There are a few players who need to stay, but most of them need to be traded for a rebuild. Retool isn't going to do the job other than guarantee the Bs will be a middling team. Need big changes.

This D pretty much needs an overhaul meanwhile I doubt you could trade most of them.

Any thoughts they may of had of moving Forbort or Gryz for cap space just went out the window. No GM is taking on those deals now.

I'm adjusting my keep trade list. I keep Swayman, JDB, Bertuzzi, Pasta, and Marchand . I didn't include any D on that list but no way do all 6 get moved so if I had to pick to keep players I'd chose Carlo and McAvoy. The rest are free to go . Zacha was great during the season but kind of vanished this post season. I'm willing to give him another shot considering we just resigned him.

Blow it up. Make heads roll. Adios Sweeney, adios Neely, dump Montgomery, trade Marchand to a playoff contender in the offseason, sell off Ullmark, make the duo of Krejci and Bergeron accept retirement, and dump whatever other pieces you can for prospects and draft assets outside of Pastrnak, Zacha, Bertuzzi, Hall, Lindholm, and McAvoy.

Zacha 0 goals. Headed into game 7 Ullmark had an 84% save percentage even strength with Zacha on the ice and Zacha was 48% in the dot.

0 goals in 12 playoff games in his career. I know a lot of people were hopeful he would be a top 6 center. Not looking good.

If this was NHL 23, I would be keeping Pasta+Swayman and would try the Ottawa approach. Build around 1-2 players, try to suck and hit good picks. Let Marchand retire as C. Bergeron too, if he wants a bottom 6 role.

It is going to be so hard offseason for Sweeney. There are no rights or wrongs.
Anything but mediocrity though. And this core has shown they choke, so contending is out aswell.

Trade Marchand, hall, Coyle and anyone who isn’t apart of the next core. Management gave enough opportunity and compromised enough for the previous group. Enough is enough.
Sometimes, taking a step back ain't a bad thing.

Man, they gave us a chance this year. Don't worry, they will probably not be back next year. Take a breath

I’ve been saying since last offseason they should have blown up the team before they mortgaged any more of the future.

This isn’t about taking a step back. If this was anything it was me lightly taking a victory lap and reiterating my point from years past.

I say they go nuts.

Send Pastrnak to Pitt for Crosby and a first. Find a mammoth forward for the first line that knows where the front of the net is and how to park his ass there 5 on 5. Could be Maroon for all I care. Just be a nuisance in the ice and cause problems

Grizz can go. Lindholm has one year to show this wasn’t a one off. Forbert see ya. Find some dmen like Gudas who suck to play against. Yup. Like Gudas.

Linus seems like a swell guy, will win a Verona. But after this you gotta go with Swayman. Cheaper. Find a vet that isn’t 38 to play 30 games. Pray he can handle it.

Find some guys that play in the dirty areas. Dump, chase score goals off of elbows and shins.

Shinny hockey has been tried since 2013. Hasn’t worked.

They have 1. 1 offseason left and that’s if the stars align before purgatory hits. I’d rather they go out trying to win like the Bruins than what they’ve been trying up until now.

I understand... you knew it all the time. OK.

I will maintain, that the Bruins did what most winning organisation do! Go all in! Easy to say they were not sucessful, they chocked in a elite International hockey level, when everything is done. Some years, it was Jacod not paying enough, then Sinden, now 37 and 46! taking a paycut to allow this team to have another chance...it did not work, hockey gods, health, chances taken etc... shit happens! Don't throw the baby with the bath water.
Bruins did what Champions do! Take chances.

McAvoy needs to stay. Obvious.

Would like to keep Bertuzzi & Orlov. Orlov oozes enthusiasm.

Lindholm McAvoy
Orlov Carlo
Whoever

I’d move Ullmark if he can return a 1st +
Swayman is ready to take the reins. Frederic on the cheap, Lauko a regular.

DeBrusk, Coyle, Hall? Not sure. Hall had a great playoff. Coyle was solid. DeBrusk will want big money on his next contract, maybe move him while he’s got tons of value?

Grzelcyk meh. Zacha? Didn’t bring it in playoffs. They probably keep him just because of the uncertainty at center.

It wasn’t about knowing it all the time. But at some point you have to draw a line in the sand and say “we will stop mortgaging the future for a team that consistently comes up short”

unfortunately there was no line in the sand and the organization mortgaged realistically probably the next half decade on a group who consistently underperfomed

Easy to call it after.. Bruins organisation took a decision like it or not. 20 days back, some were cozy believing it would be a walk in the park. It did not work, it is not the outcome, but I prefer an organisation going all in if they beleive, than backing up reconstruction with unknown. It took Oiler 15 years, and Toronto 20 years not passing the first round after sucking for some lonnnnng time. Mtl is still stuck there for so long there are nowhere in Boston fans discussion this days.

Asking for reconstruction....you will have it. Let see how it goes,....
