Most valuable player to his team no one is talking about

ide guess theres lots of fans that dont follow redwings that are unaware of how fantastic an all around game d'cat is playing . great passing / forechecking to pressure puck / driving thru heavy traffic to create offense / super smart heads up plays on both sides of puck / elite level sniping / elite level power play monster . its a blast watching him n kane operate 'the iq line' with kid kasper at center
And he fights monsters!

Lankanin has been trash since signing a contract, heard that one before?
He has not been awesome by any means, but much like Binnington, he might be the only reason Vancouver is within range of a playoff spot. Demko has unfortunately battled injuries for years now, and without Lankinen, I find it difficult to imagine they would be sniffing this close.

This is who is playing center behind Nick Suzuki:
Dvorak
Newhook
Evans

Yikes!!!!

Evans is a solid 4th line center, but this is terrible depth

Suzuki is carrying that team almost by himself, with the help of Lane Hutson on defense

Nick Suzuki if the Habs get in. His best D has been mostly injured, his wingers mostly are subpar, goaltending is mid range... Hutson isnt too far off, but Suzuki has been absolutely lights out.

Zegras. His point totals may be unimpressive, but we are a different team when he is in the line up. He is the glue. HM to Strome, but he has been on a stinker of late.

Tanev is an absolute warrior. I maybe should have known this before.......

But I feel like prior to being on the Leafs, what I heard (and did not witness because Leafs fan, don't watch or pay attention to the Western teams.......sorry) was that he sucks defensively and doesn't score, is constantly on LTIR, basically an anchor to whatever team.
Who on earth was saying that he sucked defensively? He routinely was described as one of the better defensive D-men in the league.

For Colorado, I’ll cite Nichushkin only because he’s seemingly only talked about with regard to his off-ice issues. The team’s record with him out the lineup is frightening.

But I guess a more true-to-thread answer would be Artturi Lehkonen. Another player who does so much so well but doesn’t have gaudy point totals or make the highlights.

I don't know who said it I just remember it.

Maybe they were talking about another Tanev....

My point is, I f***ing love the guy now that he is on the Leafs.

Zero issue with his contract, love his hair, dude is a shot blocking warrior like I haven't seen since I don't know when.

Dmitri Yuskevich?

Honestly, I wanna say OEL for the leafs. For a guy known for offence, i love his current play. He and Benoit together give no fks. A treat to watch and maybe the best UFA signing

Avs goaltending has improved a ton since the trades.

Blackwood and Wedgewood have both been stellar. What a difference after having to suffer trough long stretches of 4giev hockey.

Dylan Samberg.
Dude CHANGED the jets back end. Legit top 4 stay at home D man who would be top 4 on ANY contending team in the league.
Filled a hole they have had since Buff left. instantly made the team way harder to score against.

He changed the Jets. and nobody outside of Winnipeg even knows his name.
