Most valuable player to his team no one is talking about

Leafs fan right here, everyone. Also, check his post history; dude has been making variations of this same Hutson comment unprompted over and over in random threads. Dude is absolutely seething over Hutson 😂
It's a joke buddy, relax. Since you like going through my posts, why don't you find all the posts I make fun of the Leafs, everyone is fair game.

I’ll say Shane Pinto. The team struggles a lot without him. Not an obvious choice and there are better players but when he is in the line up they are a different team.

Matt Duchene for Dallas. He was good last year and he was maybe their best offensive player for the first 25-30% of the season when their biggest offensive players were struggling. Most people prob aren't aware he's gone PPG this season so far and will likely hit 30 goals.

And to think of the adversity he's faced this season as well. Lost Seguin for the year (his top guy chemistry-wise), lost Marchment for a while too. Has singlehandedly carried that Stars 2nd line and 2nd PP unit. Also was the key guy in turning the top PP unit around mid-season

Also, without him the Stars transition game from their forwards would be just awful.

Tickled a nerve on you lol

The ol Hutson head fake couldn’t prevent you from taking that bait
Lol, another salty Leafs fan coming out of the woodwork. This dude spends more time trolling other fanbases than he does talking about his own team. I don’t blame you though; the Leafs are a sad joke every spring. It must be exhausting being a Laffs fan 😂

Tanev is an absolute warrior. I maybe should have known this before.......

But I feel like prior to being on the Leafs, what I heard (and did not witness because Leafs fan, don't watch or pay attention to the Western teams.......sorry) was that he sucks defensively and doesn't score, is constantly on LTIR, basically an anchor to whatever team.

And yet all I see this guy do is block every shot no matter the importance of that given situation, great hair, seems like an amazing team guy, so basically just about as solid a D man as you could ask for minus scoring.

AKA, a very easy D man to love having on your team regardless of his cap hit. (please stay healthy!!!!!!)
Who the hell was telling you he sucks defensively? lol
Injury prone and provides virtually zero offensive ability were things I saw people say but he has been talked about as one of if not the best defensive Dman in the league for more than a decade now. I have never seen anyone say he sucked defensively that I can recall.

I know it's required to dump on all things Sabres these days, but that is really obscuring the fantastic season Rasmus Dahlin is having.

Individually, he's 4th in point/game by defencemen, with possession stats in the same ball park as the Norris contenders playing a more physical game than any of them, while remaining a plus player on a bad team.

But these are the numbers that have really blown me away:

Sabres this year with Dahlin in the lineup:

  • GF/GP 3.32 (7th), GA/GP: 3.35 (26), Record 30/28/4 P% .516 (21)

Without Dahlin in the lineup:

  • GF/GP: 2.50 (32) GA/GP: 4.80 (32), Record 0/8/2 P% .100 (32)

It's mindblowing the difference his presence makes on either side of the puck for what is clearly an awful hockey team.

And it's sad how few people realize how good he's been.

Sometimes a like is not enough. You gotta quote that shit and say “hey, great post!”

lol no one in sabres is mvp

..ah the duality of my faith in man’s intelligence. Don’t worry buddy, we know.

Like, a specific posters name or something?

Don't remember. I just remember posters talking crap about Tanev. Probably Oilers fans I would guess.......

Hey, I'm not even saying that he's some amazing player worth every dime that he makes, I'm just saying I'm surprised how good this guy is at his age and what I'm witnessing him do for the team I cheer for.

Dude is a warrior out there and that's kinda all you can ask out of this type of player.

ide guess theres lots of fans that dont follow redwings that are unaware of how fantastic an all around game d'cat is playing . great passing / forechecking to pressure puck / driving thru heavy traffic to create offense / super smart heads up plays on both sides of puck / elite level sniping / elite level power play monster . its a blast watching him n kane operate 'the iq line' with kid kasper at center
Messier was saying same thing today anout D'cat.

I’m not really looking for specific posters. I’m just saying the narrative you say you saw goes completely against what I saw on here for years. At least that part of it. Which doesn’t mean I’m saying you didn’t see it.

I have always seen his defensive acumen praised. It was the rest of his game that I saw draw criticism.

Jake Sanderson. He’s quietly becoming one of the best two defenders in the league. He’s also on pace for 55-60 pts. One of the best skaters I’ve ever seen. Had a rough start after being with paired with Hamonic. But he’s been a top 5 defender since the 4 nations, in which he also excelled at.

The Senators and #1, star defense-men will just always be a thing, eh?

Sanderson is a beast.
