Im trending towards Dahlin to be honest

6th year in the league, and he has one very good season to show for it, which was last season. I give him full props for it and think he should have even finished higher in Norris voting.
He gets rewarded with an Absolutely MASSIVE contract. I mean I would negotiate off that season too.

We are past the excuses phase with him.
His underlying number aren’t there again this season, and and his overall play has regressed back to his earlier seasons

I mean 3 other defenceman from his draft class alone are having a better year and will finish higher in Norris voting.

This gets my vote. I am a Zach Benson fan so was watching the first 7 games of Buffalo and Dahlin looked extremely average.

Hellebuyck gets my vote. I think if he played on a poor defensive team he'd get absolutely lit up because he has no lateral movement, but because he plays on a well-structured Jets team he doesn't need to move nearly as much and because he's so big pucks tend to just hit him even if he sits on his goal line.

But with that said, his numbers always prove me wrong. He just looks like he can't f***ing move in net and it blows me away people can't seem to score on him.

My knock on Stutzle is really just that his defensive game is lacking. There was a recent poll here that had a lot of people taking him over Matthews which is crazy to me.

Tkachuk it’s the defensive size of the game and the penalties that I think are a detriment to the team.

My views on Karlsson don’t need to be rehashed for the thousandth time lol but it’s not like I changed my opinion on him after he left Ottawa. Has nothing to do with him once being a Sen

Hyman has never won a major award, never received consideration (other than a few pity selke votes when he was a less effective player in Toronto), and has a cap hit of 5.5 million while being on pace for 52 goals. How exactly is he overrated?

Because those 52 goals are heavily influenced by playing with McDavid and playing on that PP1.

Drai fits yet also fits underrated.

I don’t think so. I think it’s the opposite.

I’ve thought he was a flawed player since he entered the league. Far too risky, lackadaisical defensively. He’s thrives on teams where the offence runs through him as there aren’t any other primary offensive threats. And he gets scored on at even strength at an elevated rate from a /60 perspective.

My opinion on him hasn’t changed because his style of play hasn’t changed (unless it has in Pitt. With a 2 year old and my job I haven’t been able to watch the same amount of hockey as I used to this year)

Yup, hence why I kind of want to mention Barkov for this thread for the opposite reason but exact premise - people have been calling him underrated so long he starts to feel overrated.

But yes, if you formed your opinion of Karlsson as a Senator and it hasn't changed since, wouldn't others get the sense that it MIGHT have to with how you feel about the Senators organization?

He is injured curently and not playing so it's not that. I just always thougt he was overrated. Avs should have kept ROR and make him captain. But that's just me

Landeskog played through a bum knee and was a beast in the 2022 playoffs, and now we know playing through it could have potentially ended his career. He ain’t overrated. Team misses him dearly.
