I do not remember people saying they where better than the Sedins ever...I do remember even i was on the Andrei Kostistyn train after the world juniors here in Halifax, his puck handling and abiliity to dominate in the offensive zone on a luck luster team was amazing, he looked like he was going to be something exciting for sure....I never remember people saying they where better than the Sedins though and i been part of these boards since almost the start even going back to my old handle moosefan.

There’s always a kid who’s hyped as being the #1 (or in that group) a couple seasons out that falls off the last season. I remember when the Isles drafted Bode Wilde, he was seen as actual first round talent with issues causing him to fall. Josh Ho-Sang was the same way.

Think that was the classic counting chickens before they hatch moment. dy -1 was hyped up a bit but really died down in draft year and I think he fell to early second round I believe.

Kinda like Hagens but he won’t fall further than about 6 probably

Lafreniere was also overhyped and was a very weak 1OA pick but Bedard might be the most overhyped prospect in the history of the NHL or at worst 2nd to Daigle.

unlike Lafreniere Bedard didnt take 4 seasons to cross the 100 pt mark.
Bedard has a huge lead in points over all others drafted with him.

People who expected him to be as good as McDavid are wrong otherwise there are no issues with Bedard who is still a teenager for another couple months.

Certainly falls under hyped.. not sure about 'most overhyped' . The hype is likely real and he is projecting fine to have a over PPG career average.

At one point in time Ethan Bear was thought to be untouchable and I couldn’t understand why. I guess the Oilers hadn’t developed a legit player past the first round in so long, when they finally had one in Bear they overhyped the living shit out of him.

Erik Brannstrom was thought to be the next Erik Karlsson by many (including me). He’s a serviceable player, but nowhere near Erik Karlsson lol

Michkov is a birthyear/hockey year older than Bedard to be fair, but yes Bedard was more overhyped. Michkov was about what I expected of him in his rookie season.
