Your OP and poll questions ask two different questions.

Best - Auston Matthews. Simply put, he's been the best and has produced more than Toffoli. No reason not to pick him.

Most impressive (especially if you consider impressive in regards to expectation) - that's where it's Toffoli. He's doing way higher than expected, and it's more impressive than others.

Ya I am not sure why OP included Pastrnak and Matthews in a poll for "Most impressive" when his criteria heavily favours players with goals who didn't have any expectations. Oh wait, I do know why....

Most impressive is probably actually Wayne Simmonds, who is scoring at a 2.26/60 pace. This is the highest all situations G/60 in the NHL - not bad for a player most thought was over the hill and a waste of a roster spot.

I guess you need to stack the deck when you are desperate to have your player (Tofolli) win a poll against his superiors from rival fanbases (Matthews and Pasta), though.

Much more interesting poll would have been Pavelski Simmonds, Tuch, Toffoli, Farabee and a couple others, with the inclusion of their salaries and ages. I am guessing OP didn't do that because he couldn't guarantee his guy would win that way.

Matthews... much more sustainable. Toffoli racked up half his goals in those first two weeks when they played Vancouver.... he hasnt been nearly as consistent as Matthews.

Matthews for me, his goals per game is just so high, even though it is a small sample size.

I do think McDavid is a close second. Its crazy that McDavid is a pass first player who leads the league in assists while also being 2nd in goals. He's been improved defensively this year, and is dominating the league in terms of offensive production, its an extremely impressive year thus far.

Toffoli start with the Habs reminds me of Cammalleri. He scored 39 Goals in 84 Games for them in 2009-10, including the playoffs.

He could have 0 goals in those 5 games and he'd still have the best GPG lol.
