Neither is slightly above or double.....there's a slight difference between shooting slightly above your career average and shooting double your career average.
10.9 to 20 = 9.1
18.6 to 15.9 =2.7

Its 9 more goals than his previous career high playing Sutter hockey.Yeah sure. Toffoli is shooting double his average and 33% over his previous best full season, Matthews is shooting ~15% over his career average and ~3% above his previous best full season.
I didn't discount anything. Those goals count and you quoted my post that calls this "a very impressive season" for Toffoli. I predicted 27g in 56 games, which paces out to a 40g season and miles more than his previous best. What more do you want? A career 25g scorer to hit 50?
Sutter hockey? Didn't he just score 12g in 20gp playing Julien hockey? Its 9 more goals than his previous career high playing Sutter hockey.

W/e man, you're welcome to think that Toffoli is a 40g scorer now that he's in a Habs jersey. It's a good thing Auston Matthews is a 60g scorer now that he's not playing Babcock hockey![]()
60 goal scorer thats never score more than 47.
YIKES.
Right lmaoI like how you missed the obvious dig (I even included a helpful emoji) and took it completely literally. Yikes indeed lmao.
If PP goals are so much easier to come by, then shouldn't the most impressive goal scorer have more of them? There is an "other" option, but I was going with the premise that PP goals are easier to come by than ES/SHG sooooo
Playing with Marner consistently has even more to do with it I’d say. Everyone who plays with Marner increases their output.Sutter hockey? Didn't he just score 12g in 20gp playing Julien hockey?

The powerplay is like a mini NBA game. It is dictated by the most talent you can stack on an unit, and the Leafs have that in spade, more so than any other team in the league. If PP goals are so much easier to come by, then shouldn't the most impressive goal scorer have more of them?
At this stage in Toffoli's career, I wonder if there is something different in his play that has allowed him to be on pace to nearly double his career high for goals, or if external factors are the dominant force. If the latter, I'm not quite as impressed.
Still - a great season by him, and I wish Holland landed him.
...You're missing the point friend.Neither is slightly above or double.

I don’t know how anyone thinks this isn’t Matthews. The only guy on that list that is on the same level as a goal scorer is Pastrnak who has missed too much time to warrant a vote.
I think you confuse scoring ability with reality, all three players are in the same range statistically.I don’t know how anyone thinks this isn’t Matthews. The only guy on that list that is on the same level as a goal scorer is Pastrnak who has missed too much time to warrant a vote.
So, the most impressive goal scorer shouldn't be expected to score more goals when there are fewer defenders on the ice? And the NBA analogy...The powerplay is like a mini NBA game. Yes he should, its just easier to produce goals for the Harlem globetrotters than the Knicks. So, the most impressive goal scorer shouldn't be expected to score more goals when there are fewer defenders on the ice? And the NBA analogy...
The poll started dishonestly, and the more you try to lobby for Toffoli, the less convinced I am.
If Toffoli needs to play with the Globetrotters to score goals in the NBA, then he's just getting less impressive by the minute.Yes he should, its just easier to produce goals for the Harlem globetrotters than the Knicks.
Toffoli so far.
Matthews has 2 other guy paid 10M+ to feed him open net easy goals. Even Nylander would be our highest paid foward and by a whooping 1.4+M. Toffoli is ahead of Matthews if he's playing with Marner.
All the Leafs fans have told me forever that ES goals per 60 is the most important stat so I gotta go Toffoli I guess.
