Don't be biased with the player's career. And I'm talking at the draft, not at 16 years old.

I will do it 18 times to have a top 18.

Taylor Hall had tons of hype, how do people forget how Tyler Seguin gave him a run at being first overall?

Let's also not forget how Hall had two Memorial Cup MVPs in a row before he was drafted. He had so much pressure when Edmonton drafted him. Like, when they drafted Yakupov and RNH after him there wasn't much pressure.

Yeah but all 3 were more hyped than the rest.

Yakupov, for all the revisionist history about his hype - was not even the choice of Oilers scouts.

I'm voting hughes as well and really wonder how Tavares is 4th on this list as his "status" actually went down a bit after his second OHL season a bit.

MacKinnon was really good offensively but I remember that his defensive side of the game was at point for a player his age and people knew it. (also because he was playing with Drouin that had a bad defensive game)

mackinnon. that top-4 was seen as elite with multiple 1st overall worthy players - it wasn't that mackinnon was a fringe pick.

hall had WAY more hype/expectations than yakupov btw

We are not talking about being locks, it's about hype. Sometimes the player ranked 2nd is hyped a lot, sometimes not.

Wright... at the draft ? No. He went 4th... Behind 3 guys with not a lot of hype too. It says a lot.

Nuge would of had a little more well deserved hype but Canada world juniors didn't even let him play for them that season. Terrible on them. Nuge was fire that year.

Agreed, although maybe it's because the Taylor vs Tyler hype more than simply Taylor hype that's taking drawing some of the attention hete. I thought Hall was "the most hyped of the rest".
