What's the funny part of it if it's a joke? That being gay is something to be ashamed of so all the guys on this board should avoid doing things that might make someone think they're gay? I'm legitimately asking you to explain the humour if it's a joke.

It is because we are in Boy Scouts and we (jokingly) insult people who make jokes that make them seem gay.

It is basically a meme in our troop.

It has gotten to the point where we call stuff that isn't at all gay "hella gay."

Then there is "say no to the gay" spray, where a kid in our troop was in Jacob's tent without permission and Jacob sprayed him with bug spray while calling it "say no to the gay" spray.

I don't know why we find it funny. Probably because we are teenagers and pretending to be homophobic is funny to us.

There it is, that's what I was looking for. I probably did the same when I was your age a time or two. Then one of my HS friends came out when I was 20 or so. Made me regret those times I made those jokes because we all probably made him hella uncomfortable. Some food for thought.
