Wait, do *future* 30-goal scorers like Primeau and Kozlov count too? Because then 90-91 Whalers could add Sanderson and Young to get to 13.

The 2002-03 Maple Leafs had nine former 30 goal scorers on their roster at the same time.

1. Mats Sundin
2. Alexander Mogilny
3. Gary Roberts
4. Owen Nolan
5. Robert Reichel
6. Mikael Renberg
7. Shayne Corson
8. Phil Housley
9. Doug Gilmour

Granted there wasn't a ton of overlap as a couple of those guys spent significant time on the IR. There were also six former 40 goal scorers on this list (Sundin, Roberts, Mogilny, Nolan, Gilmour, Reichel).

The next season, 2003-04 Maple Leafs had eight former 30 goal scorers all on the team at once.

1. Mats Sundin
2. Joe Nieuwendyk
3. Gary Roberts
4. Owen Nolan
5. Alexander Mogilny
6. Robert Reichel
7. Ron Francis
8. Mikael Renberg

The top six guys on that list are also former 40 goal scorers. And three of them are former 50 goal scorers (Mogilny, Nieuwendyk, Roberts).

I'd kindly settle for a tall glass of milk.
Holy cow, I think we have a winner!!

This one is really unexpected. Especially in that some of these past 30-goal seasons are total one-offs (Bjugstad) or are for relatively obscure teams (Plett).
It's a fun exercise! Great idea!

I like targeting where guys like Petri Skriko, Pat Elynuik, Warren Young end up, teams that bunch up older players (some of those early Lightning teams), and teams around the merger in '79. Some of those 1970's teams like Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, can go 7 to 8 deep, with a litany of names of guys who hit the 30 goal mark once.

Housley, Doug Wilson, and Kevin Hatcher are nice targets.

I totally forgot about Bob Kudelski's 40 goal campaign over the years.

I was surprised that I couldn't find a single Rangers' team with 10 +30 goal scorers on it at one time (in the '80s).

I'm cheating here, because it's not a decade, rather 11 years (anything with an "8" in it as far as years go I'm using), but here's are all of the scorers who scored +30 goals, only prior to playing with the Rangers, or with that player still being on the roster the following year. I'm not counting the Turcotte, Dave Gagner, Paul Fenton, etc, because they did it on other teams after being with the Rangers, or in Turcotte's case, the year after he scored 30 goals, he's into the '90 (1990-91).

Has a team, ever had more 30 goal scorers in a single decade (or 11 years)?

I count 27 Rangers.
Hartford Whalers 1981-82 through to 1991-92
Dave Keon 38
Blaine Stoughton 56
Tom Rowe 31
Jordy Douglas 33
Ron Francis 32
Pierre Larouche 53
Rick MacLeish 50
Mark Johnson 35
Bob Crawford 36
Greg Malone 35

Sylvain Turgeon 45
Kevin Dineen 45
Ray Ferraro 41
Dave Lumley 32
John Anderson 37
Wayne Babych 54
Jorgen Pettersson 38
Tiger Williams 35
Carey Wilson 32
Randy Cunneyworth 35

Pat Verbeek 46
Rob Brown 49
John Cullen 39
Mark Hunter 44
Murray Craven 30
Barry Pederson 46

damn close at 26. One could stretch it a little and include Paul Fenton 32, who normally probably doesn't count, as he was a Whaler after his 32 goal season, but never got into a game before being traded...

Awesome! A lot of sneaky guys in there, like Barry Pederson, Jorgen Pettersson, and Tiger Williams. I was also thinking about Tim Kerr and Brian Propp ending their careers with Hartford in the early '90s.

I wouldn't count Fenton, only because he did it years later with Winnipeg.

BTW, since you're a Whalers' guy, I was rooting hard for them in the '92 playoffs. I remember barely anyone being at the Civic Center, yet, it sounded loud on TV, and Yvon Corriveau (of all people) looking like Cam Neely for a handful of games.

  8. Scott Bjugstad

  10. Steve Payne
  11. Mark Pavelich
  12. Tony McKegney

This one is crazy, especially considering it was a crap team that drafted 5th overall in 1987 ... but it should be noted that Pavelich joined the team late in the year after McKegney and Nilsson had been traded, so there were only 11 on that team at any given time.
