HF Habs: Most disappointing Hughes Acquisition (All Michkov draft talk here)

In the 117 games he's played for us he's produced a pace of 43.5 points per 82 games. So he's not all that far from what you say he should produce, the real question is whether he can be healthy or not, and none of us can answer that.
I missed the half season he supposedly rocked it; habs were out of it by October and people fell in love with him. I tuned out that year I had had enough of the farce.

After hearing north and south how Galchenyuk was not a 30 goal scorer because he also did it in a lost season I am a sceptic until I see him actually play well (have most definitely not)… I’ve only seen the green jacket finalist myself. Hoping he rocks it, and could not care less if we never hear from him again. Went from guy who can’t shoot when habs got him to guy who can’t skate or make plays.

Getting him was the right move though, can’t fault the org; young, short contract, obvious upside.

Well if he was only good for a half season then that means he was only bad for a half season. And having a bad half season following a major injury seems pretty normal. So like I said it's really down to whether he can stay healthy or not.

He was awful when they got him, and even worse all of last year. His claim to fame for me is two pre-season games and people’s appreciation of his lost season play… Not a center for sure at 36% face offs lifetime and horrible D zone play. Still a good idea at the time, good trade without hindsight.

The reasons why he sucked change nothing, I’m not judging the guy and it’s irrelevant to this thread.. Well maybe framed as “most disappointing” I guess. Was reading it as “worse trade”, which it was not sry.

Lehky is the only guy miss and still wish they had kept.

He had 38 points in 58 games when they got him, not sure how that is awful. And given that you even said yourself you didn't watch that season it seems strange of you to even have an opinion on the matter.

He was not impressive the half season I watched as he could not shoot the puck coming off 2 broken wrists; I have been clear I can’t judge his good stretch; but it can’t be argued it was during a lost cause total tank. Watched every shft this year he had no game whatsoever.

I can tell enough people were impressed with his play for that stretch.

He had 6 points in his first 10 games, and 10 points in his next 10 games. Claiming he was awful when we first got him is just plain wrong.

He could skate and pass. Are you claiming he could shoot? My memory isn’t that bad.

Btw this is a thread about arbitrary opinions and he is my personal biggest disappointment because his upside was 1c and his career might be over. Last year was embarrassing, then he got hurt again.

..heck at least I’m not still crying about the Flyers’ 7th over all ;)

You said he was awful when he first arrived and only did well at some point after you stopped watching halfway through the season. That's very clearly not the case. So yes the thread is about a subjective opinion, but it's evident that your opinion of the guy is based almost entirely on this past season where he was indeed awful.

We almost agree. You don’t remember how he had no shot until he got arm strength back? Pretty horrific injury to both arms took some time.. Unluckiest hab in recent memory for sure spent his career rehabbing so far.

His shot has never been particularly good and he's always been more of a playmaker. Not having a great shot doesn't make someone awful, so no I don't think we almost agree. Dach came in and was very good from the get go.

You’re right then we don’t agree; he could not shoot at first like at all. Hey it’s fine to root for him, who wouldn’t.
