HF Habs: Most disappointing Hughes Acquisition (All Michkov draft talk here)

HuGo still being carried by Barginbin players. He needs to deliver next year, enough excuses.

Hutson is the main reason they made the playoffs, we have all seen how badly the Habs have struggled ever since losing Andrei Markov, Hutson is the closest thing we have had to that. Next season we get a full year of Demidov, and those 2 are going to be outstanding together.

I was dead set against the Dach and Newhook trades though, did not like them one bit as I felt it was more pressure from Molson to get back to the playoffs quicker. I was a big Nazar fan and think he's going to be a star in the league but every GM that has ever been will make mistakes, you just hope they don't make too many and learn from the ones they do.

Wait, now you agree with me? I thought you laughed when I suggested this. I totally agree, without Lane we are drafting top 6 again, we aren't in 30% of the games. Man that kid was special last year

I wouldn't say he's the main reason, Suzuki was, but we are definitely bottom 10 without Hutson.

It’s not just one player. Suzuki was absolutely heroic down the stretch but Caufiled was amazing in the first half. Hutson had a great year… The addition of Carrière turned things around and Laine gave us a spark for a while. We needed all hands on deck. Different players stepped up at different times.

But yeah, no way we make it without Hutson. He was a massive add.

It isn’t just one player but Suzuki was easily our MVP for the season.

no clue what you are talking about, show me someone on this board that's been higher on Lane Hutson then me.
No i said we only made the playoffs because of Hutson and you lol'd me

So then we should look to trade Hutson for a 1C like Cellibrini. But that wont happen..

He was our MVP. But he wasn't our best player in the first half. You had different guys carrying the load at different times.

Suzuki down the stretch was legendary though. And he had little help.
Throughout the whole season, he was our MVP. Yes he wasn't our MVP every single game and stretch. Teams don't really have a single player doing all the work during every stretch of the season. It's not minimizing what Hutson did, but Suzuki was the main reason why we made the playoffs even if he's not the only reason.

I don’t agree. But he was amazing down the stretch.

Caufield was our best player on the first half.
Production wise he wasn't. 42 points in the first 41 games for Suzuki, 40 points in 41 games for Caufield. But even if you want to say otherwise, you're even saying that Suzuki was our best player overall. Thus he was the main reason why we made the playoffs. There's really nothing to disagree about or dispute when my whole point was that Suzuki was our MVP this year to which you agree.

Goals are more important than assists. Caufield was our best player in the first half. No doubt about it. He carried the offensive play and Suzuki relied on him rather than the other way around.

But caufield crapped out for the last dozen or so games and Suzuki put up MVP numbers. In his last 26 games Suzuki scored at a 47 goal 117 point per 82. Incredible.

Up to that point though he was pacing for 22 goals and 76 points. A good but not great year.
