To be honest, I don’t see Rielly and Berube really meshing well and it’s very obvious in Rielly’s play and some of the words he’s used in the media. If he doesn’t straighten his game out with a defensive partner like Carlo, NMC aside, I think Rielly himself would welcome a change of scenery this off-season (unless we somehow win the cup lol).

I also don’t think the teams he’d waive to is limited to Vancouver and Seattle. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Detroit, New York, Utah and LA as possible options he’d waive to.

I look at a deal like Florida and Chicago made and understand Jones is a righty in which he could get a little more value but I think a 2nd round draft pick and a roster player is definitely fair value for Rielly.

Then make an aggressive pitch to sign Chychrun in free agency. Not only does he bring a shot from the blueline but he’ll also help add some younger legs on our blueline.

McCabe - Carlo
Chychrun - Tanev
Ekman Larsson - Myers
Benoit

That would be my ideal blue line for next season.

Man this is a hard one to separate personal feelings from on-ice play. I've been a massive Rielly fan since we picked him 5th overall, always believed in him and he has had a pretty great career so far, but this season he is a liability 5 on 5, despite being a more offensive orientated dman doesn't help our powerplay, and shouldn't kill penalties. It's a problem, and of course he has a NMC and adores being a Leaf.

Apparently getting married came with a labotomy and much lazyness and cheesecakes.

BRUTAL BRUTAL BRUTAL game last night for MO .. worst I have seen to-date on puck giveaways in all areas of ice

McCabe Tanev
OEL Carlo
Benoit Myers
Rielly (he plays only offensive zone starts and we play 11 forwards)

Just put him in the press box. Tell us he has groin tightness or some excuse to save face and protect his trade value.

I'm more confident in a 2nd pair of OEL-Carlo as well.

Reilly is finally being seen for what he is. He will be the reason the Leafs lose in the playoffs, he will have a -2 or -3 game a playoff series, possibly 2 of those in a series. He has never had hockey sense and now its really showing because his legs are declining due to age and being out of shape. Is that a guy u want to battle with? On top of that, he is a victim in every media scrum, he wants people to feel sorry for him when he responds, plays the mr nice guy who feels sad. I cant stand this dman anymore.

Mo fakes the effort on the scramble when all hell breaks loose, only to miss the poke check by a half beat, or is diving and just didn't get to the puck, but he's never quick enough to get to the problem area to have to bulldoze a guy out of the way or make a hard stop.

I find it inexplicable that he's the 4th heaviest position player behind Knies, Reaves, Hakanpaa at a whopping 225 lb but is 19th on the Leafs in hits at 21, and 27th in its per 60 at 0.92. I don't need him to be Scott Stevens, but why are you the heaviest regular defenseman and you don't even make incidental contact on a routine basis? He literally avoids the hard work. I also realize Tanev is low on the hits counter but no one will question his commitment to sacrifice.

How is It possible that Mo became this bad? Worst on the team by far.

Is he on the drugs?
Drinking?
Is he pregnant?
Wants to get bought out?
Gave up on the sport?

I am so freaking amazed by this dope

I’d rather sign marner as a dman for 13 then to have rielly bacc next year marner is a waaaay better defensemen then him it’s not even close

Yeah, it's actually a no brainer. If Rielly could go away for not cost. That would be good

I think what's frustrating is watching his defense, especially one on one, a guy basically skates and he just keeps skating backwards and never challenges them, and they can get a shot off eventually.

There is hope!

Material breach

A player can be terminated if they fail to follow the team's rules regarding conduct and training
The player's failure must constitute a material breach

Mutual agreement

The player and team can agree to terminate the contract after the player clears waivers
This is often done when the player wants to sign with a European team

Buyout

A team can buy out a player's contract by submitting the player through unconditional waivers
The buyout amount is 2/3 of the remaining salary for players 26 and older, and 1/3 for players under 26
The buyout is spread out over twice the remaining years of the contract

Unconditional waivers

Unconditional waivers can be requested between June 15 and June 30 of each year

Unconditional waivers can also be requested within 48 hours of the last arbitration award

Not the worst idea unless they can find a trade.

Yeah, there's no actual defensive challenge once he gets there.

I would strongly recommend they give him a full reset once Tanev returns. Give Benoit/Myers a few games and let Mo sit.

Bring him back after 3-5 games and then pick your poison.
