Geekie is trending up while Brazeau has stagnated, but he still has 14 points to Geekie's 13 on the season. I'm guilty of being fooled by hot/cold streaks as well - let's see the sample sizes get a little bigger.

I wonder if Geekie's hot streak will carry over to the 2nd line to give it a shooter. I know they tried this earlier this season but it was at a time Geekie was struggling with his game.

Kastelic -- Zacha -- Pasta

Marchand -- Lindholm -- Geekie

Frederic -- Coyle -- Wahlstrom

Kopeke -- Beecher -- Brazeau

Do you think his shot effectiveness has anything to do with him playing on his off-wing? To me, he looks a lot more dangerous when he’s firing closer to the middle of the offensive zone.

I'm not really sure if I've noticed one way or the other but I'll be honest - it bugs me to see a RH at the LW.
It bothers me too! Been against the idea since he was put on LW1 after his benching.

But I’m wrong often and this may be yet another example. He went from having 2 assists in his first 11 games, to scoring at a 30 goal/50 point pace on the left side.

I don’t think I want to move him back to RW.

Some players are just better on their off wing. Few and far between, but it still happens.

Usually happens at every level where a player's vision isn't a strength. Playing your offside gives you a different angle to view not only shots, but passes and lanes.

I'm surprised it doesn't effect more players in a positive way, but the way everyone plays now where they are all over the offensive zone, it's understandable.

Maybe think of it like he's the center. He takes a lot of draws for that line. Zacha - Geekie - Pasta
That’s even worse!

I know it’s just a matter of the viewing angle, but to say Morgan Geekie is our 1C makes me want to 🤮

I think I’ll just plug my nose and admit that Geekie may be a legit top six option, or is at least playing at a level that suggests it. He’s also hitting and getting pucks on the net at a far higher rate than we saw earlier in the season. As a compliment, I don’t mind him in the mix.

Why are we screwing around with the first line as long as Geekie is playing well, leave him alone until he fails, then make a move. Kastellic, has played very well this season, but please stop with him playing on the first line, enjoy what he has done but he should not be anywhere near the first line.Time for Beecher to sit out, give McLaughlin a little run, doesn't work out, try something else

I never understood the love for Brazeaus, he's a line killer to slow to be effective constantly

I would guess he will not be re-signed
I understand rooting for a guy who has worked his tail off to get where he is. Otherwise I agree, he is misplaced in the top 6 and doesn't have a standout defensive or physical game.

Poitras, Lysell, or Merkulov would score similar numbers if they were spoonfed minutes next to Marchand/Lindholm and PP2. Makes me wonder why they're investing so much in Braz, considering he's likely gone this summer.

If I recall correctly, Geekie started off slow last year too. He's come up big in a crucial period of time in the Bruins season where things could have gone really off the rails. Geekie has been a key part of turning things around. Happy to see him succeed and I hope it continues!

Braz is fourth on the team on goals and fifth in points. How is this even a debate?

I like Geekie. I think the comments section on the internet really got into his head during the offseason :p. He has a really good shot. It’s too bad he wasn’t a faster skater.

Looks like I got geeks wrong on top 6 but I still dont feel comfortable going in playoffs with him there.

If you want to compete for a Cup, you should feel uncomfortable. Compare a Boston top 6 with Coyle at RW and Geekie at LW to Florida, Toronto & Tampa Bay.

Significant advantage for Florida and Tampa Bay and a moderate advantage for Toronto.

Geekie's been humming along since Sacco took over and since he's been on the 1st line.

There's been a lot of talk about Frederic and what deal he is likely to be getting at the end of the year but even Geekie as an RFA should be getting something similar. He's probably going to have two 40 point campaigns to bring to the table.

Are we ready to commit? You would have to think he would be close to equally in demand as Frederic if available.

Very unlikely they are keeping both

I wouldn't rush a contract negotiation, I want to see Geekie finish with 20/40 or close to it again, but yeah, he's the guy to keep IMO. Similar versatility, but a better shot, better pedigree of scoring at lower levels and in the playoffs. And being an RFA there's leverage on both sides of the negotiation.

I mean his last team didn't even give him a QO. We should have tried to get him cheap but I doubt he signs Id have to think he'll take his chances as a free agent again. 3x3 with a limited NTC sure?

I get that. I just think an argument could go both ways. His value is going up playing on the 1st line and it could be an opportunity to sell high. Frederic is also faster, more physical and a left shot.

If we are really looking at a top six going forward of

Geekie Zacha Pastrnak
Marchand Lindholm Coyle

His position is the one to improve upon and then he's on the 3rd with Poitras, Brazeau, Wahlstrom, and maybe even Kastelic or Lysell in the future

Lot of RH shots and a lot of teams could value a guy like Geekie maybe even more than Frederic

played my off wing every season other than the one or two where I played center, I was simply more comfortable playing my off wing but mind you, I`m a 55 year old, lumpy around the middle dude and not a NHL player :)

One of the few things I did really well was have a quick release and my coaches always felt having me on that off wing would benefit me so it stuck, the one year I played left wing was when Rob Zamuner centered our line in Oakville and trust me, I just kept my stick on the ice in the O zone, he passed it, it went in, didn`t have to do nuthin` that year , he was special but I`m not sure I ever played with another player who did the same (played off wing)
