Statistically his 0.57PPG in last 2 seasons puts him around 150th in NHL among forwards which would mean lower level 2nd liner.

In my mind he's a very good third liner and PP specialist. He's definitely an NHL player, but needs the right coach and environment.

I’d argue zegras bad 1 of the best attitudes in the league.

His problem in years prior was immaturity but that hasn’t really showed up this year, trading him for frost would be dumb unless Philly is adding significant piece/s

Why's he struggling so much for points? 61 and 65 points between 2021 and 2023 and now only 17 points in his last 40.

Little bit of a lot of things
Last year he was injured and had a cold start(while nursing injury)…. Heated up at end of the season.

This year everyone on offense is struggling in Anaheim…. Zegras is forced into a winger dump and chase role that he is never going to excel at…. He looked pretty good against the islanders(not shocked the first game they put him back at center)

But killorn Vatrano mctavish gauthier have a combined 2 goals this year(both empty netters), these are the guys s that are supposed to help goals. Zegras is a play maker if people arnt putting up the pucks in the net, he’s going to struggle with production…. But overall he’s looked fine…. Duck fans don’t want to move him cause eventually things are going to start going his way, especially if he stays at center.

Tonight I imagine he’ll be at center again, prob a good game to watch to get an opinion on him if your curious

I do think there’s a base for a change of scenery here; but Zegras does have more value. Not sure what Anaheim wants, but I think a good add from Philly and we have a solid base.

I really don't get why Zegras is always talked about this way, while McTavish seems to get a free pass on these boards.

He's also not put up points this year despite more PP1 time than Zegras, he misses way more assignments defensively, takes more bad penalties, and while he's 2 years younger than Zegras, by the time Zegras was his age he was on his way to his second 60+ point season. Mason has yet to remotely play like that for more than a couple weeks. And unlike Zegras he's not been asked to play out of position.

It's strange that the guy who actually has played like a 2C before for two seasons is seen as flawed and needing a change of scenery, while the guy who's never played like a 2C for more than a few weeks and has at least as many flaws is seen as nearly untouchable. Is it the WJC hero thing? Because the fact that he knocked down one puck on the goal line doesn't make him a good defensive player. He may become that, but effort wise Zegras is well ahead of him on that front.

To be clear, I wouldn't give up on either guy if I were the Ducks. But that said, they're the two most disappointing youngsters thus far for Anaheim, and you'd like to see more from both.

Zegras is a temporarily embarrassed 1st liner with a bad attitude. Frost is poor man's "middle-6 tweener".
Zegras hasn’t been a 1st line player for going on 2 years now, and it doesn’t look like that’s changing any time soon.

Frost out-produced him last season, even in terms of p/gp, and that’s continuing so far this season as well.

Doesn’t really matter though; both these guys are “top-six skillset, bottom-six production” types, i.e., the most useless type of player.

Except Frost has never had top 6 production and Zegras has in 2 of his 3 seasons in the NHL.

They are not even close to the same.

They are the last nearly 2 years. In fact, Frost has been significantly better, and he plays on a team just as bad.

What the f*** are you talking about. He has played 40 games since he scored 65 points. How is 40 games almost 2 years? Even if you ignore his games played, you seriously think we can wrap this season up as a full season 9 games in?

Jesus. Talk about moving the goalposts.

I wish Capfriendly was still around. If Frost for Zegras happened, the Flyers would probably also have to move money to fit Zegras' $5.8M.

Would maybe work if they tacked on Delo, forget what he is making but I remember it is too much, plus he probably wouldn't say no to going back to a team that actually appreciated his presence, unlike Flyers where Torts scratches him most of the time, skates him 5 mins in the few times he does dress, and most fans hate him (even though they should hate Chuck Fletcher for giving him that contract instead).

Morgan Freeman for Trevor Noah and a 1st (top 5 protected)
Morgan is still the best player in the trade, but his age doesn't really fit in Anaheim's window. While he is still young I believe Trevor's best years are behind him. Good middle6/PK guy at this point.

This trade makes more sense for Philadelphia, but it would be weird to see Freeman in another sweater.
