This is the point of pro sports. Can’t convince me otherwise. Everything is built around only one team being happy. Even if I disagree, every bit of messaging is that the team that wins the championship celebrates forever and no one else gets to do that.
maybe that's why i enjoyed AFL last year when i started watching..aside from the sheer chaos on the field..i have no team to cheer for so i can just enjoy the sport ...and chaos lol

I mean, what we want is for the Flyers to be good, but I guess if you don't care about that you can love watching this team circle the drain indefinitely.
Sure, but what I mean is the critics are usually looking for a style and type that doesn't mesh and most likely never will because that's not what ownership wants. The best you can hope for is a Boston or Washington type team. You're not going to get the Oilers.

If all goes well and they make smart moves you could get Florida though so it's not all hopeless imo.

We just want the Flyers to be winners and not perennial losers.

Aren't you tired of the same old same old? The New Era of Orange is the same color since 1975 when they last won the cup, or whatever irrelevant year that was compared to how hockey is being played in 2025.
Two things. One, of course it's been a long time and I'm tired of it but I think they screwed up royally going with Fletcher and since you can't rewrite that mistake I'm willing to let this group's plan play out as I've said. I mean what else can you do?
Two, I don't buy into the "hockey in 2025" type thing. Sure, it's faster and a little different but lots of things are the same. Florida has shown that toughness and defense does matter still. It still wins. Modern hockey requires speed but with an aggressive forecheck and serious physicality you can go far. We don't have the talent to be that team yet, but becoming that team in a few years is still possible.

The Flyers are going to be forever losers on par with Buffalo because of it, so nobody will be happy.
So you think Buffalo will be forever losers too? Because they have done a lot of what you advocate Flyers should do here.

Maybe if the two teams threw all their sticks in a big pile and picked rosters like we used to do as kids you'd get two decently balanced teams since they are such opposites?

I knew someone would come here spewing this shit the moment I saw DeLo was playing. He had 0 impact on that game. His fight was a f***ing joke that he almost lost to one of the worst guys who does that stupid, unneeded job in today's NHL. Anyone who thinks enforcers still have the impact they had in the 70's or 80's is stuck in the mentality that is why the Flyers are losing games and fans in droves. I talked today with a coworker who a month ago couldn't believe that I was so far out on this team after being a diehard before Covid. Guess what, he's where I am now also. f*** this team until they get skilled players

Pitchers and catchers report Monday for my favorite team.
Go talk to Buffalo after the Jersey game :)

No, they don't, actually. I don't advocate for having a bare bones or obsolete scouting staff. I don't advocate for bad hires. I don't advocate for completely failing to identify and bring in solid depth players. Those are all the things that the Flyers do that Buffalo also does, and it sinks both. They share those traits. The reason Buffalo has an advantage over the Flyers is that they at least get high level talent when it comes to them.

That's probably why the Sabres have more wins than the Flyers in this decade. And while having worse goaltending!!!

Go talk to the Flyers for the 3 games before UTAH... We can play this game all day long.

They also lost to Utah, I don't know why that game is seen as a positive. They got blasted out of the rink and spent most of the game cowering in a Tort Shell.
Because I don't want to hear they scored goals in the Utah game and also it went to overtime so it was competitive. I'm done with that lazy analysis that I know is coming just like I knew the DeLo slurp was coming.

Better idea: throw both teams' management into a big pile, throw sticks at them, and then sell both teams to owners who understand how to build successful organizations.

5 predictions? That's kind of hard to be specific on but sure, I will give it a go.

1. Foerster, Cates and Pelletier will all be signed. Kuzmenko will also get a new deal/extension. Johnson won't be back. Not sure what happens with Abols. Probably signed. Next year's team might not be much different to this year's.

2. Kolosov will actually look good next year.

3. Laughton and DesLauriers will not be Flyers after next season if not sooner.

4. Drysdale, Zamula and Andrae all will be.

5. Torts will either be fired or more likely bumped upstairs into a senior advisory role after next season.

I'm not going to predict draft picks and free agent signings but there will be some, especially when the cap rises and when the dead money ends.

Playoff guarantee in 2027.

You?
Wow. Way to really put your foot down with bold predictions like "young FAs" will be signed and old ones won't. At least you were specific and didn't vaguely describe your positions so you can argue nuance if they don't end up right.

1) Laughton won't be traded this deadline.

2) Torts won't be fired before the start of the 25-26 season.

3) The Flyers will enter the 25-26 and 26-27 within 1.5 million dollars of the cap.

4) They won't make the playoffs in 25-26 or 26-27.

5) Jett won't play more then 25 games for the Flyers in 25-26.

Florida drafted 1st OA and 3rd OA like a decade before they won their cup, the Flyers are never doing that with their current braintrust.

The Flames have put out social media posts about Frost and Farabee akin to blitzkrieg.

The Flyers?

They aren't trading any of those 3 are they....

There is literally zero chance the Flyers become that team in a few years. Literally impossible. Get a grip

You're one of those posters who can't understand that tanking is only the first step in the process.

Calgary has been pushing these two like crazy. They’ve been part of the pre game and post game interviews. Here’s Frosts pregame from today…

I don’t think I have ever seen Frost smile as much as this during any interview with the Flyers media. I think back to his 2024 breakup day interview where he was so distressed he couldn’t even look up for more than 2 mins.

I really am happy for him and Farabee to be given a new chance.

It's legitimately weird to see him smiling.
