Fletcher and AV dug that franchise into a six foot deep hole.

Then Briere and Torts hopped down and started expanding the walls to make sure the full coffin fits.

And it’s all the fault of that guy with the initials B.C., who’s not even a top 50 Flyer of all time.
****ing Braydon Coburn.

IF you can get good value for Risto I can see trading him, sure, BUT I'm not moving him just to move him. The cap is going up and up and so I'd rather live with that contract and have the defensive depth. Last thing we want to do is go back to desperately needing D men like we were when Fletcher traded for him. Defensive depth matters.
So moving him is not a priority imo. He is most definitely not "irrelevant".

They just moved two young top six forwards for guys they could have had for free. Just for the sake of it.

And that's kind of the problem, isn't it? Briere will never get good value. His trade record is horrific. "Oh guess we simply can't make trades" isn't a viable course. So we arrive at what I've said the team needs for years. To fire everyone.

Probably some legendary shit talking going on there.

Just wondering if Tortorella might lose the room here. These guys know the reasons why Frost and Farabee were moved was that the offensive genius, Tortorella, couldn’t find a way to utilize them. They also know that these two players have had differences in public with the coach over the last few seasons. There but for the grace of God go I has to be crossing the minds of a few of the younger guys. Meanwhile the older players carry on with no cares.

Well if any of them wants to get out of the philly they dont even need to ask for a trade. All they need is to change their representation to Gauthier's agent and team will take care of the rest lol.

Hart’s best friend? I’m cool with that.

When I used to have Instagram, I got very baked one night and went digging through York’s and Hart’s content and you could tell both of them were very much frat bros douchebags. Not uncommon in the industry, but just amplified with them.

Anyway, wouldn’t miss him.

So it comes right down to the Flyers trading Frost and Farabee for a 2nd and a 7th. Because both these players are not going to be back.

and hire who? you? ffs, you can't just keep firing people.

I don't see this as a "bad" trade. I still want to see how this plays out in the next couple years. I see progress and a pathway to success and me and you will never agree on that quite obviously. Feel free to call me out in 2 years if this all crashes and burns.

What do you mean can't KEEP firing people? Who the f*** have they ever fired????????? They never fire anyone. It's the same damned people always and forever, and an ever expanding orbit of their best friends as they finish failing out across the league and settle here. Sometimes they shift a GM out, and then the same people who hired that GM hire someone who thinks exactly the same way they do and so nothing ever gets better.

SJ just got a 1st back for two players strongly worse than Frost and Farabee. That return alone is better than what we got. It's a bad trade. I can tell you how this plays out: They burn the earned cap space on nonsense like Cates being signed long term, the 2nd rounder gets wasted, and the team goes nowhere just like they've been doing under this management since 2011.

Edit: As for hiring me, what kind of a weird point is that? Surely, there are other options. Here's the thing though. I would be a horrible sports GM. And yet I'm right more often than the Flyers, and have produced better ideas than them and made better draft calls, too, and I barely even put effort into knowing the drafts; so their performance with all their resources and time and experience is profoundly pathetic. I've repeatedly pointed out that a huge reason why the Flyers are a leaguewide joke is that there are whole lot of random dorks on the internet who are better at their job than them. They don't even know what a good player is. They're hobbyists running the team as a self-fellating social club, hoarding the increasingly faint praise of a dying generation of fans who barely remembers when any of them accomplished anything. I'd be horrible at the job, but they're somehow worse. And some of them have been there making decisions that harm the team unpunished for a generation.

Oh and for years I had Commanders fans who would scoff at me saying the same thing for them: that nothing would ever get better until everyone was fired.

"YoU cAn'T kEeP fIrInG EvErYoNe.!!".

Then they fired everyone, purged almost all of their bad decisions, and became good in a year. So much for that opposition.

Yea I know I could run the team better I'd just hire @Appleyard. Oh and the dude from Hockeypsychology on YouTube. His break down of systems is something to behold.
