Confirmed with Link: Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee traded to Calgary for Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, 2025 2nd, 2028 7th

Unlike Conroy who was on cloud 9 last night right after the trade.

Yeah, but he lost the trade. Look at this: Salim Valji: Calgary Flames believe Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee bring offensive boost | TSN

“I definitely wanted to give the team something,” Conroy said. “They deserved it. They’ve earned it, and to give them a boost, a shot in the arm, or whatever it is, we felt like these two players could do that. And they’re at the right age.”

The Flames are 28th in goals per game, an area that should be upgraded both now and in seasons to come with the 24-year-old left winger Farabee and 25-year-old centre Frost, both of whom are under team control beyond this season. The two have a combined 19 goals this season, while Kuzmenko and Pelletier have a combined eight.

...

“I watched [Frost] tonight on the power play, he made some real nice plays,” Conroy said. “Quick one-touches, he gets the puck in. He can transport the puck up and get it in. We’ve had some problems at times this year getting the puck in. And Joel, he’s got some jam and he can score.”

“[Pelletier] was giving the guys kisses and rubbing heads and all that,” Conroy said. “That’s the tough part, but you’re trying to build something here. You’re trying to bring in the right people, but it’s that room that’s doing it. It’s that veteran leadership group.”

Conroy is prioritizing offense and depending on the leadership group to set the culture while losing a player who is giving kisses and rubbing heads. You just can't replace that kind of culture.

lol, a rebuild move pissing off all the people constantly screaming about needing to rebuild. Too good. Only in Philly.

Kuzmenko is a reclamation project but he might help Michkov in other ways not to be underestimated. The deal doesn't thrill me but I have no issues with it. The path continues in the right direction.

Which is the odd thing to bring him here to be alongside Michkov as “a buddy”.

The odds he doesn’t work out for any team really at this point, especially a team obsessed with Neanderthal intangibles - and Torts as HC… are high.

Bring in Matvei’s buddy, have both of them argue with John - and Kuzmenko can say goodbye at season’s end thanks to his UFA status.

Briere is honestly such a POS. Michel Therrien was 100% correct.
hopefully he tells MM to leave with him..

no point in MM ruining his career.

No, it's not a rebuild move. They didn't get any future assets commensurate with what they moved out, so it was more just having a yard sale.

They moved out two actual NHL players 25 years old or younger and got back a 28 year old cap dump on an expiring contract, a 2nd rounder in a bad draft, a small guy who passes through waivers with the greatest of ease and a 7th round pick in the year 2156. It would have been a rebuild move had they actually got future assets worth a shit but they got nothing of substance for not one, but two very serviceable (at the very least) NHL players 25 years old or younger. That's pathetic and you are just telling yourself what you want to hear.

Rebuild moves involve trading older players to facilitate more opportunity for younger players, not trading young/early prime year players for scraps. If this was Laughton and Hathaway for Kuzmenko and Pelletier, it would have been entirely cromulent.
