Injury Report: Morgan Barron out vs Bruins ... Parker Ford makes NHL debut

Ford was playing pretty good with the Moose, i like that they are giving other guys shots to play.
It’s nice they are giving ppl nhl pay checks, but, I imagine the focus is winning which creates a hierarchy of who is the most likely to help team win. The fact, Toni gets so many nhl games, I’d assume he’d be able to fill in easiest.

So does ford get 1 game, before switching to someone higher in rotation? Surprised they didn’t call Toni up.
He was leading the Moose in goals, definitely deserved callup. Also been a PKer who has got on the board SH with the Moose,

I had this guy as a top 10 prospect in preseason. He's been deserving of a callup since last year, and got the late call, without playing, at the end of last season.

So far top 6 injury has given opportunities to Chibrikov, Lambert, Lowry injury got Gustafsson out of the PB, Toninato a recall to travel with the team, play in a few, and now another bottom 6 injury gives a spot for a bottom 6 player.

I think performance will be the biggest factor. If the kid isn't all nerves probably plays the next game too.

Lambert traveling with team, may be just to integrate him, and perhaps he gets in on the home stand. So far Arny has been reluctant to drop Namestnikov down the lineup for a rookie, who he may not be comfortable playing on the road, at least at C.

PK with Barron out probably looks like Iafallo-Gus, Connor-Namestnikov, Appleton-Kupari. Maybe Ford gets a chance in there, but it's not a whole lot of practice time to get up to speed.

To get completely off topic it’s interesting they trust kc to pk, but, don’t really trust that line at end of game 6 on 5.

Connor's been an effective penalty killer. Bones moved away from using him on the PK, but he was pretty good before. He gets on with the 2nd unit later in a PK and provides some offensive threat...and then they can roll into attack mode when the penalized player gets back on.

Agreed a bit off topic, but Schiefele and KC are #3 and #4 for TOI for forwards playing against an empty net following Lowry and Apples. Nino and Iafallo follow at #5 and #6. After that there is a big drop off to any other forwards.

Vilardi has surprisingly low TOI vs the empty net - just 1:49. But I guess they like to put out 2 centers when the top line is on in that situation, so one of the wingers has to come off (and it's not going to be KC).

Fun Fact: Stanley is the only Jet to be outscored while facing the empty net. 0-1. He gets almost no time in that situation either though (3:15). Probably stuck out after an icing and then the other team pulls their goalie and sends out their best...and that is not Stanley's wheelhouse.

Last 2 games I’ve seen the Ehlers line rolled out to close game. It’s how ehlers got his only point last game.
How perfetti got his hat trick game before.
Kc’s last empty netter was in November.

That's more just short term circumstances. They put Perfetti out so that he could get his hat trick. Scheifele's last empty netter was a couple weeks ago when he was going for a hatty. Just like any stat, you need to go by the actual numbers over what happened last game..

Oh when I look up stat it said his last empty netter was December.

So a month ago. But if you look at the shift chart from last game you can clearly see being on the ice against an empty net is often pure chance. Against the Habs, CSV just finished a shift and Perfetti, Ehlers and Names replaced them. Part way through that shift the Habs pulled the goalie. Arniel didn't even make a choice who to put out 6 on 5. The Habs were the team that decided who to pull the goalie against.

I kind of expected they’d pull their goalie down by 2 with 2 minutes left.

They were going to do it at some point. A lot of teams would have done it earlier. What I've noticed from the Jets, is they will just keep running their lines especially 2 goals up. Up 1 goal Arniel has leaned towards defense and that is why Lowry still the leading TOI forward when facing an empty net.
