More MVP Worthy Player: Mackinnon, Kuch or Drai?

They are all worthy but I would like Mack to bring home the Art Ross, give the hart to someone else this year. Also I would give Makar the Hart of MacKinnon this year.

Mcdavid better get on his horse or pretty soon all these guys will catch him. 2 years in a row

No point in even putting mcdavids name in your post. He is getting eradicated for the second consecutive season.

We have not seen the last of McDavid winning Art Ross trophies. I know you need it to not happen to protect the Penguins, but outside of Gretzky, he will be the most decorated player ever.

People are saying scoring is up and Sv% is down, but if you look at the top goalscorers this year outside of Draisaitl it looks like the dead puck era. Willie Nylander is the only guy who has a chance at 50 and it seems unlikely (needs almost a GPG to get there). Draisaitl has 50 in 69GP while Nylander is the only other guy to even crack 40.

What is going on with scoring/sv% this year and why is Draisaitl unaffected?
One of the few players to consistently shoot around 20% while scoring 50

Dunno, Draisaitl first game back and it's an absolute carry job on a game that Edmonton never would have deserved to win otherwise.

Even though the hockey stat cards aren't perfect, Draisaitl's avg per game is 1.88, MacKinnon 1.68, Kucherov 1.75, McDavid 1.66.

It's a pretty clear gap there, too.
Considering goals, GWG and empty net help it's clearly Drai at this point. I don't think it's that close if you look at it obviously tbh.

It could change if MacK or Kuch go on a serious heater the remaining games. But only if Drai is showing subpar performances.

Drai was my choice. To me he’s been the best player this year. Getting hurt sucks. Hopefully he finishes strong.

As for Mac vs Kucherov, I’d give it to Kuch this year seeing as how it went the other way last season.

Helleybuck deserves serious consideration though. He might be the right pick.

Draisaitl has more points than him, not counting empty-netters. Oh and 18 more goals. Oh, and he is better defensively. Oh, and the entire Oilers team has underperformed this year except for him.
Drai has better stats for sure, and probably is the better player, imo he is. But he's not more valuable... and Drai doesn't have a defensive advantage over any forward in the league, he's putrid defensively.

Buddy you couldn't be more wrong about Leon's defense this year. His entire game has ratcheted up this season. He should seriously warrant Selke votes for his play this year. He has always had the ability but was a bit lazy defensively, this year that is not the case at all.

It's about a dead heat. Drai has the best numbers but having McDavid on your team all but eliminates him to me, since he's really not even the mvp of his own team.

I think Kucherov deserves it more due to him being robbed by Mack for one already.
Draisaitl is significantly better than 97 this year and every single person who watches the Oilers would agree. In 7 games without McDavid this year, Leon has 14 points.

MacKinnon plays with the best D in the NHL and played every shift with Rantanen or Necas, Kuch plays with Guentzel, Hagel and Point.

Draisaitls most common linemates are Arvidsson and Podkolzin lol

How is he not more valuable? The entire Oilers team has underperformed this year, all the forwards they brought in to play with him has underperformed. He plays with a mix of Podkolzin, Perry, Arvidsson, and Brown on his lines, sub 30 point players, and he is dragging this Oilers team along.
And he has been great defensively this year, you just dont pay attention if you claim otherwise. Seen many people mention him in Selke talks, he will probably at the very least get votes.

The Hart trophy is like Olympic Figure skating judging, let’s not pretend it’s fair and equitable. Like the Conn Smythe. I think the Lindsay might be more representative, but maybe not.

Basically every possession metric, micro stat and eye test would disagree with you this year. He's among the top forwards in basically all of them. Realistically he should be up for the Selke.
This award is so reputation and narrative driven that it has become a bit of a joke. It's subject to a lot of ignorance and bias. The definition of the Hart doesn't even really matter. Voters just use whatever interpretation of it supports who they feel they want to pick.

Drai has been a glass cannon in the past, all offense and weak defense, and many people still think it's true. Also Drai and McDavid have been such a tight duo that it's easy to think of Drai as being buoyed by playing with McDavid. Nevermind that McDavid has had an off year by his standards. MacKinnon and Kucherov are better supported by their surrounding casts this season

Also MacKinnon had a great 4 nations tourney so of course media like that for their narratives.

Honestly though, the Hart doesn't seem to matter as much to the Oilers, and even the fans. Everyone is laser focused on the cup
