More MVP Worthy Player: Mackinnon, Kuch or Drai?

He’s not quite putting up the same stats though
Comparable when league wide scoring is factored in.

Avg SV% and GAA in Prices mvp season - .915 2.52 GAA vs Prices .933 and 1.96

Avg SV% and GAA in Hellys season - .900 2.80 GAA vs Hellys .925 2.02

Will probably end season with more wins for Helly and shutouts tied or for price.

All things considered pretty damn similar

Should be Draisaitl right now. It's a miracle what he's doing this season considering how much time he has spent playing with wingers that haven't even combined for 20 goals on the season yet. I also think Draisaitl has been the best player in the league this season.

Agreed. He has 18 more goals than Kucherov and 21 more than Mackinnon. OT goals are also very valuable (regardless of your opinion of 3 v 3) they're game winners in sudden death. Voters will like that.

Kucherov fans are going to cry when he doesn't win again, many will make it about his nationality, but the fact is he just didn't have the best season- this year or last.

So this is a goals award now? Just admit you don't watch Lightning games.

Goals are more valuable than assists. Always have been. It's not a goals award, but when a player is within 5 pts of the leader and has 18 and 21 more goals than those players, the goals will factor in to mvp voting.

Do you watch Edmonton? Drai is the best player in the world currently.

There is still about 10 games left so things can change but as of right now Draisaitl has just been so strong and consistent in so many areas in spite of the fact Oiler wingers have performed pretty poorly for a lot of the season. Not the best support to rack up points this season but Draisaitl is stil having a monster season and he's been so crucial to Oiler wins.

Yea, after league scoring is considered it’s similar. I thought you meant it was the actual same numbers but in a higher scoring environment, making it better in context.

When Carey Price won the Hart in 2014-2015, the leading scorer had 87 points. Price also had under 2.0 GAA and a .933 SV%.

Hellebuyck is more than likely going to win the Vezina, but Hart is a bridge too far.
Does that mean also when it was that low of a scoring... its a defense (focus) first year in the league?

What a statement game by 29 tonight

Playing shifts with Arvidsson, Podkolzin, Perry and Hyman

Leads the league in goals by a ton with 4 less games, leads the league in game winners, broke the NHL record for OT winners in a season. Guys clutch and playing the best hockey he's ever played right now.

Huge comeback game for Drai. Love to see it.

Fourth 50/50 season. Ovechkin, Crosby, and Malkin have five combined.
scoring is definitely up

The kuch fans are saying he has as many 110 pt season as those combines, Drai fans pointing this out. MacKinnon has 140 pt season when those 3 have 1 total 120 pt season.

Its stupid to compare raw totals from 15 years ago to now. Drai is amazing though

Drasaitl should win, but I’ll say Hughes gets my vote if he didn’t miss time. For me, Hughes is mothers mvp, just missed games which takes him out.

Kucherov could win his third Art Ross, which is as many as Crosby and Ovechkin combined.

That better?

MackInnon has fallen clearly behind the two since the trade deadline. It's Kucherov vs Draisaitl and i would give it to Draisaitl.

They are now equal in GSAA (36.7) and Helly is ahead in GSAx (45 to 39)

Price’s season occurred when league average save percentage peaked; Helly has been just as good if not better this year.

I know people only value goalies if they drag a mediocre team to the playoffs, but making a borderline playoff team the best team in the league is just as important - especially when winning the division could be pivotal for the Jets.

Sure? and RIck Nash has more Rockets than Kucherov and Jagr combined.

Don't know why you got defensive, what Kucherov , Draisaitl, and MacKinnon are all doing the last few years is amazing. But comparing their raw totals to Ovi/Malkin/Crosby is unfair because the era is so different and scoring is way up. That is the only point I was trying to make.
