well putting aside the greatest goal scorer of all time, the rest were not competing against competition this strong and/or had a unique narrative. If Kucherov were 24 points ahead of the closest centre like Kane I'm sure he'd have a better chance, or if he was going to win the Rocket like Ovi or Perry. Also voters across all sports are getting smarter, baseball awards voting is nothing like it was 15 years ago and in hockey all-around play gets more consideration today.
kucherov was far more involved in the hart conversation last year with a better case and didn't win. You can get your hopes up if you want, but voters aren't just going to just look at the final points tally and vote for the guy they haven't been thinking about all year because he padded his stats in 8-0 wins. The odds market reflects that.
