More MVP Worthy Player: Mackinnon, Kuch or Drai?

Bro. Draisaitl has been carrying around a waiver addition (Podkolzin) and an undersized 30+ yr old guy who can't score to save his life this year (Arvidsson) all season long. Mackinnon is glued to the absolute best players the Avs have every single shift (Makar, Rantanen, Necas, etc). If you're gonna comment on other teams try and tune in at least once lmao. It's legitimately tough to read your takes pal, so so so bad.

There are 3-5 better candidates for Hart than Mack. He's not in the race.
Every time I watch the Oilers this season I wonder why Drai gets the Pettersson treatment. He plays with such crappy line mates . Podkolzin has been stapled to Drai every game I've seen. Maybe you guys should have kept couple of those young players from last season lol .

No argument here haha. Drai gets absolutely shafted for linemate quality but he still impacts every single game - which I believe makes him unique amongst the superstar tier of players in the league. Wouldn't mind figuring out a way to give him a little more support somehow but probably can't happen for another year or two for cap reasons.

Some stars, for whatever reason, seem to do better with no-name lunch pail linemates rather than "scorers". Look at Crosby for example

I'd also consider werenski if he can get columbus into the playoffs.

Also, makar if makar scores 32 goals hes going to be the first dman to score more than 31 goals in 32 years. Even if he just gets to 30 goals that is extremely rare for a dman. He's going to win the dman points rare by around 15 points too. Also makar is 9th in overall league scoring, for a dman that is huge
Makar now up to 6th in nhl scoring. When was the last time a dman finished top 10?

A laughable take for sure when you realize Mack has played 70% of his 5v5 minutes with Makar this year while Draisaitl has played like 40% of his 5v5 minutes with McDavid this year.
Out of curiosity what’s his time with Bouchard?

Kucherov is done after tonight's lazy ass performance. It's Draisaitl's to lose right now. MacKinnon has an outside shot, but he would need to go crazy over the last little bit. Makar's season takes away from MacKinnon in a major way though.

I think now Draisaitl is out of the race. He got hurt (possibly aggravating his injury) and won't come back against the sharks. At this point, just rest up and get ready for the playoffs

Kuch is by himself. Point is a star, but not at the same level of McDavid/Bouchard/Makar/Rantanen offense drivers.

Actually I dissagree here. I believe that playing with Podkolzin helps Drai even if Podks doesn't put up point.
He is very good are going into corners, retriving the puck and very good defensively, and this is the type of player Drai needs.

By April 19.

Nikita GOATerov = 45 goals, 96 assists, 135pts

3rd more career defining Art Ross win + Hart

f*** Duekinnon
I dare to ask what’s a duekinnon? Like he’s due a hart? Another cup, more hardware? Are you still upset from 22?

If you’re attempting a troll, you ain’t doing it right. You’re coming off a few French fries short of a happy meal

The meaning is exactly in it's name, Mackinnon needs narratives to win awards. He'll never be a player to outright demolish the competition akin to Kuch or McDavid.

I’m still not understanding the due part of it all. How exactly does either one of the above players do it and Mack doesn’t. If we are referring to last season kucherov had 144 points and 44 goals Mack had 51 goals and 140 points typical when races are tight goal scoring has been a deciding factor. Some say kucherov and his EN points may have had some sway. The award is voted on by hockey writers from throughout the nhl.. not just Denver.
You can not like mackinnon the player but to begrudge him of his play. Comes off super childish

Remember that thread about Pasta being on a 15 game point streak and one or two musing about Hart votes?

Since then, he has scored 3 goals and 11 points in 13 games, while the Bruins have lost 11 times and are just one point out of last place in the conference. There’s very little that’s incredible or amazing about his season, and to call him the most MVP worthy player is an insult to the ones truly making an impact.
Hey, still about that “insult to the ones truly making an impact”, here’s an update:

Taylor Hall, won the Hart in 2017-18.

2017-18 Devils:
1. Hall… 77 games, 39g+54a = 93 points.
2. Hischier… 82 games, 52 points
3. Palmieri… 62 games, 44 points
Note: Taylor Hall ended up 6th in scoring behind McDavid, Giroux, Kucherov, Malkin and McKinnon.

2024-25 Bruins:
1. Pastrnak… 77 games, 40g+54a = 94 points
2. Geekie… 72 games, 50 points
3. Marchand… 61 games, 47 points
Note: Pastrnak is currently 4th in scoring behind McKinnon, Kucherov, and Draisatl.

Pastrnak is doing this while playing for a team that currently is tied for 29th in the standings (or fourth worst in the league).
Hall in 2018 performed the way he did (equal to Pastrnak) in a team that was good enough to get in the playoffs at wild card spot 2. AND FOR THIS HE WON THE HART.
I think that I very successfully argued that Pastrnak is having a Hart worthy performance and for sure not an “insult to the ones truly making an impact.”
Are you going to say anything intelligent about this or are you still going to play possum? It’ll be interesting to see if you can concoct any intelligent rebuke to this. Go for it, I am listening.

PS: you also mentioned that since Pastrnak’s 15-point streak, he had 11 points in 13 games (for a team gutted at the trade deadline by the way. Real surprising that a team doing bad, started doing worse after that, uh? /S).
Well, well, well… I found interesting numbers: in the calendar year 2025 or 38 games, Pastrnak has scored 57 points, or a 123 points pace over 82 games. All this on a team that fell off the sky like a plane with all engines on fire. Still an “insult?” Let me know.

Get back to me when you figure out what door was actually opened for Hall to win the Hart in the first place.

Hint: Take a good look at where the Oilers finished in the 2017-2018 standings.

The Bruins have won four whole games in the past two months. Four. And that includes last night's win that you apparently raced over here to post about like it's some kind of brilliant gotcha moment.

The Bruins are literally last in the East and scraping the bottom four across the entire league, yet here you are bringing up Hall and the Devils—who he helped drag into the playoffs as a 97-point team. And you're following me around because I made an impersonal comment about it being an insult to the other candidates?

Pasta is a gem of a player, but even if the Bruins were in the playoff hunt, there’s so many more players with an interesting case this season.
