Moose are comedically bad. Up 2-1 and on a PP, give us a shortie with an incredibly lazy play by Coghlan. Then AJF takes a penalty right after and Texas scores on the PP and take the lead.
Be interested to know your take on how the Moose blew a 2-0 lead.

The team had a 2-1 lead going into the 3rd, managed to put up four shots all period (including two after Texas already scored an empty netter to put the game away) and lose 4-2. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2025 Manitoba Moose!

They are a dumpster fire this year.

They just REALLY struggle to generate any offence. The first goal was a nice deflection and their second goal was off the rush but other than that it felt like we never had any sustained pressure, not even on the PP.

I think the problems start with the defence. Not one of them can make a good breakout pass or move the puck up themselves. The forwards aren’t great either. Guys like JAD, AJF, Toninato, and Shaw should be scoring much more as AHL vets.

Our leading goal-scorer is Parker Ford with 13. Texas, meanwhile, has guys with 23, 18, two guys at 17 and two guys at 13.

Kahkonen was also an adventure in net. No offence with below-average goaltending equals trouble.

True North has got to get their shit figured out with the Moose.

It seems like the low end Jets prospects aren't even AHL quality...and the vets they have aren't very good or just are all simultaneously having terrible years. The defense is bad, the goaltending sucks. It's just a big steaming pile...

How was Salomonsson's play? Seems like he has taken a back seat offensively since Coghlan went down. Ashton Sauntner is probably not driving up his offensive production.

Here is the update:

I'm back at practice next week so will get update (provided he doesn't play this weekend which seems unlikely).

I didn’t get a great look at him to be honest, as I was with a group of people.

He looks much more poised than you would expect a 20-year-old rookie to look, was usually making the smart play, and had a physical edge to his game.

I’ll really zero on him next time I get out to a game.

Went to this one.

DiVincentiis reminds me a lot of Helle. Hes very efficient in net. Reads the play well and is always square to the shooter. He's also very in control of his rebounds. He's really given the team exceptional tending and the teams confidence in him shows.

Salomonsson: Kid is going to be a real good player. He makes reads and closes on players quickly. He is both apt at slowing things down with the puck or making the the quick pass. I wish he was still on pp 1 so we could see a bit more offense from him. Still I thought he picked his spots well when to rotate in in the offensive end.

Ford continues to play well. He goes to the hard areas and is rewarded for it. The kid has a lot of compete. I think he may force his way onto the team next year.

I'm at a loss to explain Zhilkins lack of production. Every time I see him live I come away impressed. He works hard, he's very good with the puck through the nz, goes to the hard areas, reads the play really well, and is adept at breaking up plays. It could be due to the team in general having a hard time scoring or that he plays limited minutes.

Wagner wasn't really noticeable in a good or bad way.

Lambert. The good: The won a puck battle behind the net and made a great pass to Coughlan for the game winner with under 10 seconds left. That was a real positive play. He also was great transitioning the puck through the nz and the team gains possesion with him carrying the mail. His off the puck play in the defensive zone is sound and he presents good passing options for the d. The issue is he's still spending way too much time on the perimeter in the ozone. His two shot attempts were from 40 feet out and he only put the puck into the slot the one time that I can remember. He needs to start getting himself or the puck into those high scoring areas more.

Awesome

Thanks for the live post game breakdown.

Watching the game on the AHL platform and the Moose just getting worked. Not many positives.

Lambert didn't see the ice the last 5 minutes of the second. Not sure if an injury or if he's been benched. He's been leaned on all game by the Admirals and was getting frustrated. Had another instance where he had the chance the walk into the slot and rip it but pulled up and out and put it to the point for a nothing shot that was blocked. The kid seems allergic to the middle of the ice.... not sure what is going on with him.

DiVincentiis didn't really have much of a chance on any of the goals. He's been hung out to dry.

Edit:

Seems like he was benched to end the period as he is back out and playing a lot better. Now using his speed and skill to really attack the other team and is shooting when in good spots.

Moose have been a catastrophe this season. The vet forwards that Zinger brought in have been anemic. The coaching has to be in under the microscope, too. The Jets need the Moose to be a more effective development situation as they have Yager and Barlow ready to join next season.

Interesting to note that Torgersson is putting up a point-per-game in Liiga since getting shunted from the Moose.

Yeah, I've been saying that for a while now. I haven't been all that happy with player development the last few years. So many of our mid picks are looking absolutely awful lately. I can't remember this ever happening under Vincent. They would atleast look competent under him and would show some growth. Heck even our top picks have regressed hard this year.

Chevy really needs to sort this out this summer. Get a coach like Vincent that seems to have a pulse on player development and get back to it. We can't afford to have guys like Lambert etc stagnate.

It also might be time to redeploy Zinger in the org. Maybe we need someone new running that portfolio.

Imagine how bad this team would be without Coghlan who has been in on almost every Moose goal.

Defense is bad too. First goal is an easy d to d pass that goes south.

Breakdowns, breakaways this team can shit the bed with style.

16 games in the Liiga is a pretty small sample, but he was definitely going nowhere with the Moose, after a somewhat decent start there.

Thanks for the deep dives, @surixon, and nice to see Coughlan back on the scoresheet. Would have liked to see a bit more of with the Jets, maybe he hops up with the expanded roster later in the season.
