OP, please stop with your trade proposals, it makes the rest of us Habs fans look bad...

Alzner > Beaulieu (and I'm a huge Beaulieu fan)
Johansson > Desharnais (Mo Jo is a legit top 6 forward, Desharnais isn't)

Washington gets ripped off...

Obviously, I'd do this trade 10/10, but it's not gonna happen.

Caps fans, are you open to moving Niskanen?

Absolutely not.

Niskanen is like a better Petry at this point, so no way.

this smacks of totally not knowing anything about Karl Alzner. He is a top 5 pick that has become every bit of what a top 5 pick should be. Just because he doesn't rack up a lot of points he gets underrated and misunderstood.

The Caps would not trade Alzner for any reasonable offer. Period.

Beaulieu is the best piece in the deal

And this is why this thread should be closed. If Beaulieu is so good, please keep him. I'd venture that from a Wsh standpoint Beaulieu alone isn't enticing enough to trade either Alzner nor Johansson so, move along nothing to see here.

He may end up being hated by the habs fanbase too, who knows...but one thing we do know for sure is that he sure as hell is better than DD

So are alot of other players, i dont see the logic of taking on a 4.6M caphit for a similarly soft and inconsistent player. This is Desharnais's last year, we'll either move him for a pick or we just won't resign him, no need to take on 3 years of MoJo.

Johansson is a little steep, imo at 4m he'd be great and I'd take him in a heartbeat. He's a 3rd liner who knows his role and gets 45+ points a year

Having Galchenyuk, Plekanec, Johansson, Mitchell down the middle would be great and all for ~17m

Except both players were done. Mojo is 26 years old and in his prime.

Point taken, but talking more player type. DD isn't old either and had put up some nice numbers in his career. Obviously he isn't as valuable as Mojo, but I can see how Mojo could be infuriating if you now what I mean. Mojo is a good player, but I just don't think it would end well as the habs are currently run. That's more what I was getting at.

Johansson is mainly a LW, Washington's top 3 C's are Backstrom/Kuz/Eller.

Mojo wouldn't fit Therrien's system very well, but who does? Even his protege DD doesn't fit well. Still, there is 0 interest for Washington to do a trade like this. I don't like Mojo, I really don't like him. I'm probably the biggest Mojo critic on the Caps board, but in this case I'd hold on to him if he could only return DD in a trade.

Yeah, but he is also capable of playing C and RW. He's versatile, that's one of his strengths.

Mojo would actually fit like a glove on LW with Plekanec and Gallagher in a playmaking/puck carrying role if Habs do a Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-Radulov top line and the other one as a shutdown top 6 line.

I've never been a big fan but he produces like a top 6 player and can definitely elevate a line/powerplay in the right circumstances. His big knocks are softness (though he battles and has an edge sometimes so it's not like he's Wolski soft more like Hejduk soft) and lack of finish (and he gets a ton of golden opportunities). He needs to be given the chance to create offense/carry the puck rather than ride shotgun and bang in rebounds/tap ins. Him and Eller could compliment each other nicely.
