To Montreal: Marcus Johansson, Karl Alzner and 6th round pick 2018

vs

To Washington: Nathan Beaulieu, Sven Andrighetto, David Desharnais (Cap Dump), 2nd pick 2017

MTL POV: MoJo is a good option for the 2nd line LW spot, still young and if he use his frame .. he could be great with Plekanec and Gallagher. Alzner could be a good guy to play with Weber.. good size.. don't know if he still use it.

WASH POV: Beaulieu is ready to step in and in a system with Ovy and Backy .. he could become a solid #3.. or #2.. Andrighetto is a 2nd line forward but Montreal have enough small forward with Carr, Lehkonen ect.. DD is cap dump but can produce on a 2nd/3rd line.. C/LW.

Fair deal or someone need to add?

Capitals are getting ripped off, they give up the best forward and best D in the deal. They also get DD and a useless draft pick that doesn't get them any closer to the Cup.

Abysmal doesn't even cut it for Washington.

Giving up a young, arguably at worst #3 defenseman, a legitimate top six winger for a less proven young defenseman, a cap dump and a prospect.

Oh but don't worry guys, there is a 2nd rounder going to the Caps so it's totally legit.

Washington, a team going for the playoffs NOW, gives worse, for no discernible reason.

Habs fans crucify DD yet they wanna trade for MoJo, clearly you guys haven't seen him play. If you don't like DD you won't like MoJo.

I'm not a huge Mojo fan but he's younger, better than Desharnais and there's a massive size difference between the two. DD is 5'7 174 lbs, Mojo is 6'1 209 lbs.

what does size have to do with play style? they're both soft and inconsistent.

Mojo is soft but he doesn't get shoved around by everyone like DD. Karlsson couldn't life Mojo off the ice like he did with DD. Mojo skates faster and is capable of playing all 3 positions.

Alzner is the real problem here. Non starter.

I would argue that he's one of, if not the most important part of our defense.

This is an interesting proposal in that I wouldn't trade Alzner alone for that entire package and I wouldn't trade everything else that Wsh is giving up here for that package either. Kudos OP, absolutely horrible. The best part is the Caps take on a Cap Dump for the privledge of acquiring inferior players. P.S. Beaulieu nor Andrighetto are worth nearly what the OP must think they're worth.

This trade is awful and all that, but you really put Alzner ahead of Carlson?

Alzner is not better than Carlson but equally important. He's the best Caps D in his own end, while Carlson is the best in the offensive end. Overall Carlson is better, but the team would fall apart without Alzner.

Alzner is the Capitals best defensive defenseman and losing him would create a gaping hole on their blueline. Carlson has more value as a player and is, in my opinion, overall a better player, but the Capitals would be in serious trouble without Alzner and what he provides in their own end.

This trade offer is really, really bad.

Not in terms of value or skill but by importance. If you take Carlson out of our lineup you might be able to make up for him by committee. The Caps defense without Alzner has a glaring, irreplaceable (at least internally) hole that I think makes him at least equally important.

People, the OP is a post and run type. Surprised the mods around here put up with it, but whatever. He never comes back and defends his position.

OP, please stop with your trade proposals, it makes the rest of us Habs fans look bad...

Alzner > Beaulieu (and I'm a huge Beaulieu fan)
Johansson > Desharnais (Mo Jo is a legit top 6 forward, Desharnais isn't)

Washington gets ripped off...

Obviously, I'd do this trade 10/10, but it's not gonna happen.

Caps fans, are you open to moving Niskanen?
