Artturi Lehkonen at 50% (1.15 million/RFA)

For

Evgenii Dadonov (5 million/this and next year)
Brendan Brisson
2023 2nd rounder

Vegas kills two birds with one stone here. They pick up a really good depth player who will be a top penalty killer / checking line player for them. They also manage to trade a cap dump in Dadonov who could possibly become a Tatar 2.0 for Montreal. They need to clear the cap space for Eichel. Brisson was drafted #29 last year by Vegas. Vegas traded their 1st round pick in this years draft for Eichel and that is why I pushed the 2nd round pick back a year to the 2023 draft.

Lehkonen’s value is that of a 1st round pick which Brisson was a late 1st last year.
The cost to dump Dadonov is a 2nd rounder.

Vegas says no. Stone on LTIR takes care of things

I agree only due to the asking price from the OP. Lehkonen is an excellent 200ft player worth a 2nd+ and this does help the pending cap situation for next season. The add isn't a 2020 1st round draft prospect though.

OP, you're being greedy. You've asked for more for a 2way mid 6 RFA than you received on Toffoli. Come on, Dadonov isn't that level of cap dump and he's only got a single year left.

Lehkonen is better but he's not a recent 1st rounder + 2nd round pick better than Dadonov. He's also an RFA due a raise. What's he signing for bridge wise, 3 million x 2 would be my guess. Vegas isn't paying this price to gain 2 million of cap space for next season. Seriously, think this through.

Dadonov cycling through Montreal to be moved to a 3d party with some retention is the only way I see him involved in a trade with Montreal. He's of no value otherwise to a team that's just bottoming out now.

Think Vegas is way too high on Brisson and with all the prospects they've traded, someone has to still be in the system. I think he will be am option for playoffs this year like Krebs was last season.

How does Martinez or whitecloud get on the roster? Stone can’t stay forever on ltir

They have enough space for everyone as long as Stone is out and it's assumed that he will be until the playoffs. Just need to waive 2 of the extra forwards Brooks/Amadio/Kolesar.

Too much to pay given that Vegas' cap problem has been ameliorated for the remainder of this season.

any deal where montreal is taking on dandonov and his 6.5 million dollar salary next year begins with hague coming to .

dandonov and hague for lehkonen 50% and calgary's 5th .

Habs fan here, this is too much to ask from VGK IMO, I believe Marleau had a 6m cap tied to him when traded for a 1st while here we are speaking of a 5m cap hit. Maybe for Lehkonen you d get a 2nd + Average prospect (not more given the Toffoli return), but then it means that VGK would pay Brisson to get rid of 1 yr of Dadonov which I think is too much.

Im not touching that if im MTL, I love Brisson but Dadonov contract is horrendous, I am also not retaining money on Lekh

What ? 5m for one more year and likely you can flip him at 50% nextTDL ... And for that you get a past 1st rounder who is developing nicely... I d do that.

Dadonov is overpaid and the Knights may eventually have to attach a pick and eat some salary to move off his contract but he’s also a better hockey player than people are giving him credit for. He’s been a very solid 200’ player and teammate in Vegas and has been snakebitten in terms of point production.

You work the cap this year to go into the playoffs with a full squad - he could definitely be a beneficiary of Eichel’s arrival. In the off-season, he may be a cap casualty but he’ll have only one year left at $5 million. If you eat $1.5 million, he’s probably got positive value at a $3.5 salary. He’s still very much a positive player.

I love Lehkonen but this deal is simply not good asset management for Vegas. Brisson is a stud and a blue chip prospect.

You're right but the 1st to dump Marleau was in the 10s. Brisson was picked 30th. Still too much from Vegas.

Ended up 13 OA but I believe they expected it to be 20-25 at time of trade and Brisson has two years of good development so he should be worth more than at draft time ;)

It doesn't really help either team. The last thing the Habs need is another big contract. The Toffoli trade clearly indicates they want youth and picks.
