Alex Burrows

Late draft picks maybe needed to even it out but. I think it fits what both teams would like.

Vancouver going younger. Gives them some bottom 6 guys for chapter.

Montreal takes on a little more salary. I just think that Burrows would be playing for a contract. Playing in front of family would probably motivate him. If he could stay healthy the two above reasons could maybe help boost his production.

The Habs also free up a roster spot and allowing Lehkonen a real shot of trying to make the club.

Pacioretty Galchenyuk Radulov
Burrows Plekanec Gallagher
Andrighetto Danault Shaw
Carr Desharnais Mitchell
Byron Lehkonen

Habs don't have the space to take Burrows contract. Even with 2 contracts going the other way, we would still have to take up 3M cap hit + whatever hit the 23rd skater has.

We have 2M in cap space so the deal is not cap compliant.

As much as I hate Matteau and Flynn, I'm not willing to get rid of them to take on Burrows' huge cap hit!

I wouldn't trade Desharnais for Burrows and that is saying a looooooooooot on how much I doesn't want Burrows lol.

Burrows is worthless and has negative value. The habs have a better 2LW in Lehkonen. Lol who would commit such madness?

i could see something around desharnais and a fourth for burrows and a fifth. both contracts are up this year. burrows could provide more as a 3rd line winger than desharnais would contribute. definitely more grittier.

i would definitely go for it if vancouver could retain on the cap hit from burrows. desharnais is 3.5 and burrows is 4.5. burrows actual salary is three. they get a pick maybe 10-20 spots higher somewhere around 110-130.

I'd rather they keep Burrows and he re-ups at a more appropriate cap for the rest of his career.

Great player, just overpaid.

Hoping he's in Canuck colours his whole career.

Add some cheaper younger options. Free up some cap space as well.

The Canucks probably are going to let him walk.

I think they would like the extra cap for the year and bring on two younger bodies.

I think he's staying honestly. The younger guys spoke highly of him and how he's a great support system for them and told Management the same in exit interviews.

Desharnais would have been a cheaper option probably before we got Sutter and now we don't really need another one. That my opinion though.

Might be a deal that makes sense for both teams at the trade deadline if the Canucks are out of it....Burrows could take a home-town discount to re-sign in VanCity in the off-season....But more likely he becomes a UFA, which would work for Montreal if they're playoff bound.

One contract with Burrows versus two with Montreals package. The cap would be nice, but Benning won't spend it on anything worthwhile. Our room loves Burrows.

Yeah I see no incentive for this trade at all.

Benning declines the trade,

adds a second and sends the offer back to Montreal.

Burrows should get moved at the deadline to a contender to help for a long playoff run. The guy would be a great addition to a team looking for a reliable pk guy who can play in the bottom 6.

That said if canucks are in a so called playoff race around the deadline doubt he gets moved. Love Burrows what a great story and he has had a wonderful career with the Canucks. Hopefully he can regain some of his form this year and be a good 3rd line player for us.

Yeah he's one of the best penalty killer's around, can still chip in the odd goal, fires up his team a rock solid bottom sixer guy, and he's loved around the vancouver community, he's put in a lot of work for this team.

Having said that, I guess if you could trade Burrows now - I say it's better to do so sooner rather than later, as last season the two potential tdd guys vrbata/hamhuis got injured at various points.

And without a doubt, Burrows will in all likelihood sign an affordable contract with the Habs for sure as he loves the habs, plus he lives in Montreal in the offseason.

And the Habs allegedly talked to Van about Burr in the offseason.

But Burr is still here, so imo he's here till the end of the season where he can just sign with the Habs July 1st.

Seems like a bad deal for both clubs.

Yeah. Doesn't really make any sense either way.

For the Habs, that's a big cap hit that doesn't fit with Burrows contract.

For the Canucks, the deal serves no real purpose. Sure it would move Burrows salary for the year, but there's not really anything worth spending on that the Canucks don't already have plenty of space for anyway. Burrows is still a leader for the team and a versatile player who is still just fine...simply way overpaid for this stage in his career. There's no upgrade in the two scraps thrown their way in the original offer. No point.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see it isn't one of the laughably one sided has deals in favour of the Habs we've been getting lately.
That being said, all three players have no value so it's a matter of personal preference
