it feels like you thought up the trade and wanted it to be fair-ish but then tacked on the picks for an obvious Habs win.

The picks were value wise.

I feel like Dvorak is an upgrade at center for the Preds. Given the age yes the players from Nashville add some more size to the Habs. Parssinen I’ve been a fan of just wondering if he can grow or if he might be a plateaued player which would end up being around Dvorak. Cap wise I added Lauzon which Press fans were saying they want gone. He’s a Quebec guy with some size and add some hitting on the backend. The picks I think help value wise for Parssinen and Dvorak. Lauzon based on the deal is for cap and as he’s not viewed well in Nashville.

The deal with Colorado. Armia is likely going to be sought after at the deadline. Special teams player with big size and great on the board play. I could see a Western team like Colorado interested. Some fans liked the idea of acquiring him as he’d fit their team but Georgiev was brought up to offset the cap. Georgiev isn’t exactly that great. I feel Like Primeau sending a goalie back has flashes and still very young. Just the Habs have some decent goalies in the pipe including Fowler and don’t see him being in the long term picture. So Armia being likely valueable at the deadline and for me personally Primeau = Georgiev value wise. Armia + 3rd for Ivan + 2nd doesn’t sound far fetched.

The Seattle deal. I feel Nyman could be a welcome addition to the wing and add more Youth. Struble is 23yrs old a reliable dman. Former second round pick like Nyman. I value the dman a bit more but I feel the value is close there. I seen some on here mentioning Borgen for a 3rd. So I figured a 3rd plus Pezzetta to add a little extra value to offset if there was any minor value off between Struble and Nyman. Plus Struble adds a RFA at season end dman on the backend to replace Borgen who is a UFA.

My logic not trying to fleece value. Maybe it’s wrong but it seems decent and fair in my eyes it’s not anything over the top.

Primeau is just a body...the Avs have plenty of those in net.

But - to the OP's credit - I believe the thinking is more like "The Avs can't afford Armia as a full-salary rental but Georgiyev makes the same so financially, that's a wash. In order to turn a useless $3.25 million cap hit in net into a $3.25 million cap hit that could also be a nice bottom six fit - the Avs have to incentivize the Habs with an asset or two." Primeau ends up being just a body that is moved in the process to clear space.

I don't love the idea of the Avs liquidating a couple of their few actual trade chip assets remaining just to get a Joel Armia for a few months while doing nothing to solve their goalie issue...but I see the logic in the proposal.

Yeah, Preds have no interest whatsoever in Dvorak. If the trade was:

Dvorak + 2nd
for
Nothing

... we still say PASS.

Now as for Lauzon... I wouldn't mind just giving him away to you. The guy is an absolute tire fire. Although part of it might just be the way our coach is letting him play/utilizing him. If somebody could just get Lauzon to settle down into playing a completely no-risk stay-at-home style, his physicality could at least maybe be a plus. But the way he runs around chasing hits and jumps up on the rush and pinches now, he's a total liability.

Parssinen deserves a chance somewhere. He's a solid player. A little bit slow, but good vision, shields the puck well in traffic, he should be playing regularly somewhere in the league. I wouldn't mind if the Preds just waived him to give him a chance elsewhere, we don't really need to get anything back in a trade for him.

So my counter offer is:
Lauzon + Parssinen
for
Nothing

I don't know, I'd consider a Dvorak for Stamkos swap, with no retention anywhere. But yeah, otherwise...

Habs fans in my opinion overrate their players in terms of on ice value.

But are very accurate when it comes to the trade value.

Proved right with Monahan and other trades with what the Habs got back value wise.

Monahan was a complete dud in Winnipeg though. But his value is whatever someone is willing to give up for him.

Avs say no quite easily. Still getting a sub .870 goalie and we get a player with one extra point and an extra 8ish years older? And they give a 2nd and get a 3rd?

Nashville also says no….

Did you even try?

Monahan was certainly not a ‘dud’ in Winnipeg. PP instantly improved soon as he came over. He was very well likes by Jeta fans as well and most wanted him re signed, as did Chey. Blue Jackets just offered more term and money than Chey was comfortable with.

Armia is not a fit on the Avs, at all. If he played his ass off every shift then it would be a different story (he'd also be a lot better player if he played like that). I'm sure some team would be interested in him, but not the Avs - Armia would find himself benched or getting less than 10 minutes a game after a few games.

Avs reject that poorly constructed proposal that heavily favors the Habs.

Ivan Ivan looks like a good young bottom six forward. A young, cost controlled piece all NHL teams desire in their bottom six.

Armia is an overpaid, lazy, inconsistent nobody. Primeau is a dime a dozen AHL/NHL tweener.

Habs have Jake Evans. He’s about the only realistic/interesting trade chip y’all have this year. Very disappointing team overall the 2024-25 Habs.

He looked pretty over matched vs the Aves.

The same Aves who lacked the depth to even compete with Dallas.

So I thought it hadn't worked out well.
