He did a soft pass to the middle of the ice to nobody on a penalty kill and caused the breakaway against
Fair enough.

I was wondering why the entire line is trying to counter on a PK. That doesnt make much sense. Provorov also pinched when three guys are already up. Dumb play all around.

Severson was streaking up the ice but it looked like he slowed down/wasn't expecting the pass. I don't think it was a bad play by KJ

It literally caused a breakaway lol. If you’re going to try that play you gotta hit it. If not you will get scored on every single time.

I agree that I don’t want KJ to change how he’s playing but maybe on the PK don’t try to be Superman and just get it deep and get off the ice

1st - PK
2nd - Severson's mistake not him
3th - Johnson mistake
Provorov should not be up past the red line when 3 of the 4 players are already in the other zone and you're on the PK.

If you're trying to convince me that Provorov is better than Severson, I agree. They both aren't great though, Damon is just a bit worse imo.

To play devil's advocate if Severson keeps skating he receives the pass and has an option at a wide open shot from the slot or a backhand pass to Monahan. The play was there. KJ is also the only guy on our team who won't just dump the puck but will pass the puck backwards to kill time on the PK. I like the aggressive mindset. The more reps he gets the better he'll get at picking his spots

It's risky but yea, not sure how neither Blue Jacket got a hold of that pass. Either way, probably best to not have the entire line follow him up there on a PK. Just dump it in.

Very poor Kj game. Cant believe we got beat twice by the bum ass Canadiens
The first loss was excused by some by fatigue. What will this one be?
Canadiens changed lines, Newhook playing better with Caufield and Suzuki than Slavkovsky/Dach. Their coach finally split the Anderson-Gallagher pairing. They played great together, but the other lines were missing players. And Slafkovsky couldn't always plays horribly.

Harris is absolutely useless.
Better than a negative, so we still won the trade, but, you’re correct.

He shouldn’t be an “everyday player”. Neither should Jack Johnson. But, I’m not sure that means it’s good to just have each guy play every other game.

Can we put a moratorium on the word “rush” in relation to Mateychuk??
