To Colorado
- David Desharnais
- Alexei Emelin

To Montreal
- Jarome Iginla
- Fedor Tyutin

Avs get a tough defenceman on contract next season and see if DD can follow other Quebec forwards in having a fresh start in Colorado.

Montreal gets a veteran RW that can help in the locker and maybe some last playoff heroics. Tyutin fills Emelin's spot and would be a better partner for Weber.

Emelin has not been garbage playing with Weber this year.

Emelin for Tyutin ? Nah

Emelin isn't garbage. He's been outstanding this season. He's playing like he did pre injury. Besides, if we do go out and get Weber a partner it's one who would be an upgrade on Emelin, not a lateral move.

As others have pointed out, Emelin is NOT "garbage" in any sense of the word. He looks to have completely recovered from his injury and Weber is amazing for his confidence.

So, the answer tho this deal is an easy "no".

Iginla is at the end of the line.... Like DD.

And I don't think Iginla would accept a trade to Montreal.

The fact that Iginla's and Tyutin's contracts expire at the end of the year probably is more of an asset for Colorado at this point.

this is why i have no interest.

do not want to trade garbage for garbage if they stink sticks around longer.

value wise favours montreal in a vacuum, but the term makes colorado say no.

Emelin isn't garbage. He'd actually be a fairly big upgrade to Colorado's defense. DD is crap though.

That's awful for the Avs.

Iginla will return us a decent pick or prospect at the deadline. He's got good Corsi numbers and will go to a cup contender for scoring depth. Probably returns us a 3rd or a prospect. Which is easily more valuable to the Avs compared to Desharnais.

Tyutin has actually been pretty decent for the Avs this year and especially over the last couple of weeks. He again is someone we could grab a 4th round pick for at the deadline, which is worth more to us then Emelin.

Not a good deal at all for the Avs.

lol no he wouldnt

he's just contribute to the log jam of bottom pairing defensemen who get asked to do more than they should.

hes not beter than ej, barrie, beach or weir.

he essential will just be in the way of brigas's roster spot next year which is why i dont want him at all.

Emelin would be your #3/#4 defensemen. Better than Tyutin, Wiercioch and Zadorov today. Similar to Beachemin.

Would probably easily be worth a 2nd this year.

I think the Avs would rather just have the extra cap space at the end of the year

lol no. he is not better than zadorov.

the original comment would be he would be a BIG UPGRADE, he wouldnt even be a big upgrade if he was added to an ahl roster.

No use putting casual fans through the cruel joke in false hope then the realization these players are past their prime or straight up garbage. Better the devil you know (than the devil you don't

I know Iggy is far from the same player he was a while ago and that he is at the twilight of his career, That's the thing though , if he wants to win a cup before he retires and the Avs are out of the playoffs...who knows maybe he actually would waive his NTC to go to Montreal for one last run. Plus he's UFA this summer.

Always have been a big fan and have a lot of respect for the guy. He's one of those old timers i'd like to see win a cup before he retires. Would he help the Habs ? Maybe he wouldn't have that much of an impact but then again neither does DD. He could get sheltered minutes with some PP time. And we'd get rid of DD in the process.

Probably won't happen but personally i'd do it. He would be far from the first guy i'd target at the deadline though. More like a complimentary deadline deal

Not going to say he is a huge upgrade but he is, right now, better than Zadorov. Won't be for much longer but right now he is. Beauchemin and Emelin this year are similar.

Emelin has actually been playing the best hockey of his career,

Colorado's garbage is fouler than Montreal's garbage.
