Markov leads all NHL skaters playing tonight after two periods with his 18:20 of icetime. Looking really good tonight, as he has done the last couple of games after a few rough outings.

The only player who did a good play on the JT goal is Emelin, he came back and made his assignement good.
Gionta, Plekanec and Ryder were all out gassed and Bouillon sigh...

If they make it, which I think they will, the Islanders are my playoff darkhorse.

*unless they play us

Agree with the comments that our defense sucks. We leave so much maneuvering room for opposing forwards, and then can't clear the zone when we get the puck.

What's the problem? Have our forwards stopped backchecking as much? Are we not punishing their forwards enough? Are we just not executing our transition passes properly? A bit of all, but mostly the last two, I think. Their forwards are swarming around Price without any retribution - we need smarter, bigger presence around our own net. Then we need smarter passes. How many friggin times has our D had the puck on its stick but failed to clear? Diaz is really missed.

That said, I'm still happy to sacrifice a game or two now for the sake of inexperience, as long as Dumont and Tinordi gain some experience for the playoffs.
