HF Habs: Montreal Canadiens End of Season Press Conference

92.

Matheson made mistakes because he played too much. Laine made as many mistakes as Matheson playing one third of the minutes... with 25% of those being on the PP....
You could literally of just ended your sentence at 'Matheson made mistakes because he played.'

At least Laine kept us in a couple games with PP goals, but he needs to get a LOT better next year

But Matheson costed us *far too* many games this year, an unacceptable amount. He's gone

Listening to Christian Dvorak, it's easy to believe he won't be back with the Canadiens.

He says he met with Kent Hughes this morning but refuses to speak about his future in Montreal."

Think they wanna give Dach a chance as a 3rd line C.

Think they wanna give Dach a chance as a 3rd line C.

Hope he works hard on faceoffs, because that's one thing Dvorak was good at - and Dach is horrible at.
I suspect if they swap Dach in there, that 3rd line is going to get scored on a lot more. If Dach can get back to his game pre injury they might score more too, but I really feel like he's better at RW.

I think we'll have a better idea of the direction after monday's presser.

They also have Kapanen, Beck....Do they see Florian as a C?

Hughes might wanna give a chance to the kids he drafted at training camp, and then if it doesn't work out, they still have Dach and Newhook who can play C until the kids are ready.

Dach or Newhook or Kapanen or Beck......or even Evans and find another 4th line center.
Either way, they have many options going forward.
Dach's health can't be counted on, Newhook isn't a center, Kapanen isn't an NHLer, Beck is even further away than Kapanen, and Evans isn't even consistent for the 4C let alone the 3C. It's a pressing need for sure if Dvorak isn't back.

After Bouillon and Byron, two players who are not legends in any way, joined the organization I don't get the point of adding more retired journeymen to the coaching staff.

What Savard going to impart? His whole career has been underwhelming relative to his draft expectations. He's a shot blocking bottom4 dman. Enjoy retirement.
Hey the binman turned that resume into a GM position.

Third time Slafkovsky makes reference to "what I need to do to be successful" (play physical) and now again he says he should start "in October, not in February" and how it's a mindset thing.

The media are pretty tight onto him imo, I wasn't expecting this from them onto Slaf.
Turning into a politician, says the right words but.... fades. Hopefully the playoffs engraved some will to have the change last.

That, or the normal maturity curve of a 20-21 year old continuing to progress

It’s possible but I think the 3C role is going to Evans.

Possibly Beck or Kapanen as 4C, or they'll put a low cost vet.

Something is telling me though that they’re going to give one more shot to Dach as 2C.

I prefer the honesty personally.

Especially with how polished and scripted so many young pro athletes are these days.

Slaf is about as unscripted as it gets, kinda the opposite of a politician actually
When you repeat the same thing over and over......
