Ottawa traded Nick Ritchie (bust at #10) and Bowen Byran (good player) but obviously neither move worked for Ottawa. Edmonton trading Barzal for Reinhart also a bust but Ottawa I’m assuming will be trading for established players.

Montreal traded their guy because of an offer sheet
So your 3 examples of trading a top 5-7 pick and it being successful are:

Ottawa trading next year’s first for Bobby Ryan without knowing where they’d be picking, ended up being 10OA.

Edmonton trading pick #16 in one of the worst trades of the cap era.

Habs getting KK plucked by an offer sheet.

You’re not making any sense my man. We just did this twice: DeBrincat trade we got completely fleeced, Chychrun likely walks to UFA after next season. Both deals were applauded as victories at the time. Trade the Boston 1st if you really want to but this teams needs to hit on this pick.

10 games this year - 0 points

Is this help or is this just drafting?
Picked 4-15 in the same draft: Byram, Seider, Cozens, Zegras, Boldy, Cam York, Caufield. Singling out a bust to prove your point is pretty weird.

6th worst team in the league. No playoffs for 6 years. The Sens need help on the ice in Ottawa NOW

I actually see them:
- trading #5 for a RD
- trading Chychryn for a 1st round pick.

(So basically just moving back in the draft and still keeping two 1st round selections and adding the top pairing RD)
Wouldn’t be surprised if scouts see levshunov and parekh as guys that can play 25/26. No need to trade the first for an extra year of a d man that will NOT be in an ELC.

Trade chychrun for good support. Nail this first rounder. Nail the second first rounder.

When you look around the league which top pairing RDs are available for our first? I don’t see many.

Dorion thought that as well for the last few years and its worked out really well.

Best to ever do it. I guess the reason this team needs major fixing is because Pierre Dorion was in charge and things never ever improved, we just stayed bad, that’s the only thing that was consistent was Ottawa being out of it early.

I have lots of faith in this management group and we need to improve and we can’t just trade Brannstrom and bring up Kleven and hire a new coach and things will be solved. Need major additions to the core group, and some major substractions as well.

I don’t see this as the end of the world because I think Ottawa does this to keep the propspect pool solid and solve the add problem:

Ottawa: Rasmus Anderson
Calgary: #6 overall and they draft Tij Iginla

Ottawa: #15 overall
NYI: Jacob Chychryn

Ottawa just essentially drops back 10 spots in the draft and solves the RD problem and keeps the prospect pool solid with the Chychryn trade and the Boston pick in the late 20s

But does Zegras make this team a playoff team, does Caufield or Boldy? I don’t think so - I think you’re proving my point all nice players but does any of those guys help Ottawa make the playoffs this year? And that was the 2019 draft so 4 years ago.

the only player there who helps is Seider and he’s struggled lately from the reviews. He’s still a young player learning the ropes - not sure I want more of that right now in Ottawa especially at an impact level. Our core spots need to be filled with vets, we can’t rely on rookies to solve our problems they are to big

islanders have 2 LDs they probably like better than chychrun.

Pinto and Greig our top 2 centres. Special K's the 3rd line. Could still beat the habs though. Must be a tough job for the either teams coach to motivate tonight. Hopefully Boko and Mac take a lot of penalties tonight.

Yes but you are using examples of a dunce - look at Vegas has done it, Tampa, Florida totally turned their team around.

I just can’t see Ottawa drafting their way out of this

I don't think it matters where they end up unless they win the lottery or get moved into the top 3, anything behind that they should be able to draft a good player. We were behind the Habs before & they took Kotkaniemi & we got Tkachuk. I'm hoping for Lindstrom C/LW or Yakemchuk RD, can never have enough Chucks.

not gonna lie, its a lil embarassing that our last home game of the season will be infested with Habs fans.

Players have said time and time again they dont like it, and its not a good last impression before the off season.

To be fair they have 31 regulations wins, Ottawa has only 24.

PIT 4-9 3v3, 2-3 SO
OTT 7-4 3v3, 4-0 SO
So we have gone to OT 15 times and won 11, they have gone to OT 18 times and won 6.

Kind of weird that they can be so much better in regulation while so much worse in OT.

they are old and do best 5 on 5 where they can play a passing game instead of a skating heavy game in OT.

Their "young" scoring legs are guys like Rust 31, Eller 34, Smith 32, Rakell 30.

They also start off really well in most games but lose their legs in the 3rd, lots of points they gave up like that.

They are basically the opposite of the Senators.

Its not like the Sens are icing a Cup winning lineup ..

We have 4 top 6 forwards; A 3rd line that is our 4th line and a callup 4th line.

I wonder if Brady can get to 300 hits by year end, I think he needs 18 so it might be close but I don't think he quite gets there
