I was gonna say, if that's all it takes, sign Detroit up.You're adding a lot more than just Kapanen on top of Matheson to be able to pull of Andersson IMO
Let the Wings have him.I was gonna say, if that's all it takes, sign Detroit up.
Let the Wings have him.
Are the Flames planning on extending Andersson?Yeah no chance Calgary does this. Value is off and the assessment of need is flawed. Matheson wouldn't get PP time in Calgary with Weegar and Parekh there, plus Flames would have zero interest in extending him. Kapanen is an ok prospect but not of very high interest
That’s pretty much what happened with the Monahan trade. Its just the way it is!Montreal gets what they want. Calgary gets hosed.
He has expressed interest in wanting to stay in Calgary. Flames and him will probably discuss that after he gets back from captaining team Sweden. My guess is they don't end up agreeing on a deal since Flames are looking at something around Neal Pionk and he wants something closer to Jakob ChychrunAre the Flames planning on extending Andersson?
if the starting points are only 2x2 apart, that's not a difficult gap to bridge unless one side holds firm on both dollars and termHe has expressed interest in wanting to stay in Calgary. Not a difficult gap? That's 30 million dollars apartif the starting points are only 2x2 apart, that's not a difficult gap to bridge unless one side holds firm on both dollars and term

We can give you your our first for Andersson ? Montreal can flip Matheson for another first. We keep Kapanen.Kap is a great prospect who'll turn into a good middle 6er. Matheson has a lot more value than people on this sub acknowledge.
Overall, value wise isn't horrible, it just doesn't fit Calgary's needs at all. They don't need what Matheson brings and so his value to them is a lot lower.
Im a Habs fan but...We can give you your our first for Andersson ? Montreal can flip Matheson for another first. We keep Kapanen.

Sure, that sounds good enough for me. Habs would benefit from what he brings (as long as what he's been playing through heals up). If he goes back to being what he was 2 years ago, he'd make the Habs d into a playoff ready team.
+/- is a trash stat, the -38 is very misleading. Andersson was on the ice for 8 OT losses, 13 empty net goals against, and 5 short handed goals against. That's -26 right there. Then when Bahl got injured and Andersson was playing with Hanley, he was -8 in 10 games. Being on the I e for only 15 powerplay goals for, on top of playing by far the most minutes against elite competition on the team, his -38 is really not that surprisingMatheson does not get a lot of PP Time in MTL because of Hutson either to be fair.
I would have fully agreed with your message one year ago. Now only partially : it does not make sense for CGY indeed but value wise Andersson was awful this year with a -38 in a team missing the playoff by 1 point… I think his value really took a hit
