Stu was awesome. Created something most shifts.

Bath stood out in a bad way with those two touches leading directly to goals against.

Grieg showed some fire and made plays as well.

Depleted lineup of mostly AHL players. Looked like a team with no depth left.

why's that? Only other chants you hear in hockey are "go team go" or Let's go Team"

Habs fans like to sing.
lol sing. It’s one word repeated over and over.

I don’t care that they do it. But let not pretend it’s creative

Also you know some these Habs fans piss all over the floor and their toilet seats at home. The difference in cleanliness in the bathrooms between Habs games and every other game is insane

Hab fans are always so surprised when they're called shit heads after doing shit head things.
Most are not true Habs fans.

They’re Ottawa based. 65% of their fandom is trying to troll Sens fans and the other is hoping their dad loves them.

People that cheer that have a hometown team and cheer for their hometown team have an element of class that other fans do not

All Ottawa based fans that cheer for other teams talk about “hating the sens”. It’s just Ottawa bullshit.

Unless you’re from Montreal or somewhere else without a team it’s “silent without THEM”.

Also they’re not that loud. Because they’re mostly just Ottawa people lol
And admittedly Ottawa people are quiet

Last night was not loud at all

Sleepy Steve cant sit on his hands and wait till we miss the playoffs. We were playing 11/7 again tonight. We are 0-3 now doing this. Go look around the league for a depth NHL calibre forward. You don't only make moves when you are confident you will make the playoffs, that's the wrong way to be a GM. Not saying we trade major assets or picks but cant sit idle and hope for the best. Especially when you havent made the playoffs in 7 years.
How do you get a player that makes a difference without moving something of value to the other team especially now at this point in the season?

Are you serious that you don't understand that the championship match might've meant a bit more to him that he'd be willing to play through a minor injury. Jack Eichel has a cup and he said it was the most important game of his life, obviously he's going to play through something minor for a game that important.

I'm also confused as to the amount of people that assume this is his call. It very well could be the Sens medical staff wanting to sit him tonight.
Easy for Eichel to say after having already won the cup. For me, this tourney was a nothing burger, it's not like the Olympics. I guess the closest comparable is the World Cup but even that one includes more than 4 countries.

So true, sorry man. ;)

I must say though, if we’re mad at Brady for missing this game, and this is what the team looks like without Brady, maybe we should put a pin in the idea of trading him.

Side rant, McDavid scored the big goal, but he was invisible all night, and was similar in the playoffs with Edmonton. Hes an amazing talent who will score when left along, but he doesn’t dominate a game, he’s not that guy.

We need Brady. He can dominate a game like few can. We have a guy like Stu who can score when left alone, or can get a break away, but he needs a guy like Brady.

Go Sens, we’ll get em all when the roster is healthy.
Brady was in the line-up for the previous 3 losses so not much of a difference maker IMO. I think Norris/Pinto returning and Ullmark finding his game will make a bigger difference, especially in GA.

Norris too, 2nd most hits on the team (after Brady).
Yeah, Norris should focus on the "skill" he brings rather than running people. Too often I've seen him pass up the opportunity to disrupt a play so he can finish a check, or choosing the body over the puck - not what's needed!

I think they're playing 11/7 because Mantipalo won't clear waivers and they don't have the cap space to do another call-up and scratch either Hamonic or Mantipalo. I don't think either Pinto or Norris have been placed on LTIR, that's a lot of wasted cap space. If everyone returns to the line-up, then they can keep one forward in the line-up as Cousins is on LTIR, and then scratch a D.

The more I think about this game the less confident I am about our playoff chances. Injuries or not, the effort was not there, and our starting goalie is wildly inconsistent. We'll have to get very lucky the rest of the way with overall team health, and pray to god Ullmark stops playing like a god damn sieve.

Sorry but that's just not true.

We're top 4 in hits and top 10 in penalties taken.

I said without Brady.

Without Brady we drop to 12th in hits and more importantly, we lose a large part of the big hits. Leaving us with Norris or Stutzle who are racking up numbers but not intimidating anyone.

Without Brady, which again, was the main thrust of my point, we drop to 25th in PIMs taken. Without Brady, our active leader in fighting majors becomes rookie Ostapchuk with 2, no other active player has more than 1. (Mac has 3 but he’s unavailable)

It goes further than that as well. If you take out Brady, we don’t have many good board workers, we don’t have a good cycle game, we don’t have very good puck protectors, we’re often one and done in offensive chances. This team without Brady isn’t physical. Stats don’t tell the whole story.

We're not losing games because we lack grit. We're losing games because we don't have enough skill and smarts in the lineup.
Interesting strawman, I didn’t argue that.

Sure if we lose Brady we could use more toughness and would need someone to drop the gloves, but as you've pointed out, we'd still be in the top half of the league in hits if he weren't on the team.

I'd be more concerned about losing Brady's offensive production if he were traded than losing his toughness/physicality. That's a luxury for a team that's tied for 10th worst in the league in goals scored.

I mean, so easy to see, our forward group minus Stutzle is really subpar.

As an European, never been a big fan of watching Habs fans appropriating this chant. It fits well with soccer, looks weird in hockey.

Not their fault they thought there were selling them to old nordiques fans who are now die hard Sens fans

People can basically pay a big portion of their season tickets by selling Leafs/Habs games... can't blame them

And are you going full emo too? What am I responsible for exactly? They said they want to develop their fanbase outside of Ottawa but frankly I don't feel very welcomed even though I live in the enemy's territory, which is mesmerizing for a small franchise stuck between 3 giant markets lol

I think we need both.

Stutzle-Giroux and Norris-Batherson both become more effective with Brady. His skill is a big part of that, but his physicality, general mucking work, and the space he creates with it is also a big part of it.
