Points at all the other 4 nations players that played or are playing today.
Did any of them leave a game with an injury and then miss a game during the tournament? No need to be so dense, he obviously got injured during it, and decided to play through the injury for the championship game. Your argument is that he should've prioritized the Senators over his own country and missed the championship game so that he'd be healthy for the Senators next game. That's unrealistic, every player in the league is going to play through an injury for a best-on-best championship match, that's the equivalent of a Game 7 Cup Finals game.

Ok. The guy wants to win really bad in the NHL too, right. He comes back to Ottawa and sees half the team injured in the middle of a playoff race, also coming off of 3 straight losses…
So play through the injury? We have 26 games left, I don't want him risking making it worse. If he's injured give it time to heal, we don't play again until Wednesday.

That is 100% my argument. And any counter argument falls apart in the face of his brother sitting out basically the entire final game due to injury.

It's an unrealistic argument. Matthew sitting out means jack shit, do you think because they're brothers they sustain the same injuries too or something? They're separate people with separate injuries.

My god this forum has lost the plot. Emo as hell lately.

Wouldn’t have minded Brady sitting out if we weren’t on the heels of 3 straight regulation losses and on the bubble of missing the playoffs. All this talk of ‘if you told us we’d be in a playoff spot by the 4 nations break, we’d take it’ screams a lot of ‘we’re just happy to be here l’ energy.

These guys need to not sit on their laurels and realize the urgency behind this stretch to really separate themselves. This is effectively a must win, so disappointed to not have our best players available.

Oh come on man. I brought up Matthew as an example of a player that decided it was better to not make an injury worse by trying to play through it in the final game of this oh so important first time tournament.

We lose tonight, and probably winnepeg on Wednesday and we're on a 5 game skid with Boston and Columbus licking their lips behind us.

Don't resort to hyperbole because you don't agree with me. People don't like this because we want to get into the post season. You know, that thing this team hasn't done in 7 years?

Guys their country lost a game of hockey. You can’t possibly play hockey for at least a week after such a devastating ordeal

When this team makes the playoffs (if) will they need to take games after OT losses off?

Stop being so emo. We haven't lost anything yet.

If you want to continue to discuss this, I'm game, but I will not entertain someone who replies like this. Enjoy the game.
Not much to discuss, just saying the anxiety really isn't necessary. It's hockey, injuries happen, and any team can win on any given night. Just watch the game instead of marking it as a loss before puck drop.

Uh we’ve lost 3rd place in the Atlantic and all of our margin with wild card spots. Habs will be tough tonight, would anthem be surprised if they lose based on how difficult scoring comes to them?
So what? We're in a playoff spot with 26 games left. We control our own destiny. Win more than they lose down the stretch and they'll make it in. Adversity is a part of the game, and the point of that margin we made was for exactly the kind of scenario the team is in right now with all these injuries. Just heal up fast and come back ready to play.

In the meantime we still have guys capable of winning games, so just have a little belief in your team, stop saying they're going to lose before puck drop, and watch the game.

It's going to be very hard to swallow if we lose tonight with Brady sitting in the press box taking it easy after giving all he had for what were meaningless games as we sit on the edge of slipping out of a WC spot with three losses in a row going into this one.

He better come back and show us the same energy he had these last two weeks when he gets back in Wednesday.

Is that what he did? He played 2 mins against Sweden and couldn't finish the game, he didn't decide it was better not to make the injury worse, he wasn't able to play, just like he's not playing tonight.

By Wednesday we could have everyone back, a little early to be written it off.

It seems to me like there's an assumption that he's chosing not to play when he could play. Idk if that's a fair assumption, we don't know why he's a game time decision, could be the flu that was going around the tournament, or it could be an injury unrelated to the one that kept him out of the one practice. It sucks that guys got injured in the tournament, that's one reason I didn't like the idea of this tournament being held in Feb, but injuries are part of the game, any time you play you can get hurt. Had he not played against Canada, we might still have seen him unavailable tonight.

They haven’t really given me much hope the last few games without Norris and Pinto…now without Brady and potentially sandy….not good

Idk, those games didn't seem meaningless watching them, the players didn't act like they were meaningless.
