what??

Gionta is one of best players in league on slot.

Eller maybe over Plekanecs you could say for puck retrieval in corners but Plekanec is pretty crafty down low.

Eller brings both of those things to the table. Never said others aren't good in front, but you have to agree we sorely lack possession down low on the PP and we waste time digging the puck out of our own end and setting up.

I didn't think last night game was a snoozefest, the play was back and forth, not many whistles, good chances, 1 semi fight, some good hits yeah it wasn't 6-5 but sometimes 1-0 games are ok to watch.

Fair enough. I suppose it wasn't boring, but I was just tired. It was definitely frustrating, though.

PP TOI/game:
1. Max Pacioretty - 3:00
2. Michael Ryder - 2:59
3. Brian Gionta - 2:56
4. Tomas Plekanec - 2:52
5. David Desharnais - 2:51
6. Brendan Gallagher - 2:11
7. Lars Eller - 0:39

PP points:
1. Michael Ryder - 13
2. Tomas Plekanec - 12
3. Max Pacioretty - 8
T4. David Desharnais - 4
T4. Brian Gionta - 4
6. Lars Eller - 3
7. Brendan Gallagher - 1

Comparing icetime to production, it's pretty clear Gionta hasn't been effective this season on the PP. He's not alone either.

maybe i'm totally out of line, but i'm shocked bergevin didn't trade for muscle yet - especially for this game. i think the bruins are going to try and kill us tonight. And moen will skate around scared. So Tinordi is expected to be the deterrent tonight?

let the bruins run around and take stupid penalties again. chara can spend 18 mins in the box while we score goals on the pp.

why waste a roster spot on a guy who won't see a minute of icetime come playoffs? we don't play bruins hockey so no need to try to emulate them.

Gionta shouldn't be on the PP and if he has to be, he should never ever touch the puck. Too small ,too weak in the corners, let him find a spot to shoot or be a pest in front, otherwise he's full-on useless

I think the general thinking is that we aren't going to make any panic moves for the playoffs, let alone for this individual game. If the right player becomes available then fine, but right now we have 4 lines being rolled very effectively and anticipating the return of Prust at least. Bourque, we'll have to see.

Bergy is looking to the future, he's said it a million times. The right player might not be available (I don't think he's in the Bordeleau fan club/maybe Avs are greedy). Again, we really aren't as soft as conventional chatter suggests. We can beat these dudes. More Eller though cuz Gio is going to get very little space near the crease.

Really hope Ryder turns those posts to goals tonight against his former team (that sounds weird considering his career path).

I actually have pretty deep hate for this team. When I think about how much I hate them. I rage.

If Boston tries to get nasty with us we're trouble. Hope Tinordi doesn't have to scrap Lucy, Thornton, or Chara in his first NHL scrap....

Are you Jacque Martin or Pierre Gauthier?

You should send that to the coaching staff...
