It is highly unlikely it is a monitor problem so spending 150 or 319 dollars on it would be a waste if it happens again for the new monitor. I'm telling you, it's Windows 10.

but the incorrect logic is your hate on video games. what's the matter with you. you know the only reason this thread exists is because i can't freaking alt tab out of a video game without it dimming the damn screen !

so it's not a hardware issue at all? just windows being windows?

that is what i said on page 1

The issue is likely due to windows 10 because many people have also reported on google that their monitor dims when they alt tab out of game on windows 10, whether it's the stupid game bar MS uses or some other crap

that is why I need @SniperHF to help diagnose the issue. Because there is a highly likelihood there is a setting that needs to be altered in order to fix the damn dimming.

it looks like you're doing all the research necessary. why do you need someone else to fix it for you? specifically sniper, who is not a windows developer/project manager, afaik :)

Answers from the link you provided

I seem to have fixed my problem.I had the same issue with the Sims appearing to dim after using alt-tab to switch to another application. I found that after I set the in-game screen resolution to match the screen resolution of the Windows desktop, the dimming effect has apparently disappeared. I have a wide screen laptop with an odd default screen resolution 1366 x 768. I hope this helps.

what worked for me was switching to window mode then back to fullscreen

Whats the difference between playing a video game and say watching tv?

well, i think they're both pretty lame in any sort of quantity. I guess I think games are worse because they require full attention. Like, I often have the news on while I'm working on a tv on the other desk. It's a nice break from music and keeps me "up to date". It's a lot more flexible in allowing the person to do other shit.

not that life is about being 100% productive. i'm certainly not and am not on the soap box. but video games are such a savage waste of time. how often do you just sit down and play a 30-60min session? It's usually hours on hours.

but say, if you watched 3 hours of reality TV, or played 3 hours of video games a day, I'd definitely vote for the video games. no question. It's all about quality and quantity of consumption :)

I don't know about anyone else, but I ain't got that kind of free time to sit down and play hours and hours. usually its about 1-3 hours throughout the week and maybe a 2 hour session on a weekend.

Do you not have a spare monitor to test? Or even just a TV with HDMI input?

Based on what expertise are you claiming a monitor failure is "highly unlikely"? Just test the damn thing so you can be certain it isn't the problem.
