Out:
Toffoli, Lehkonen, Chiarot, Kulak, Weber, Romanov, Petry

In:
1st 2022, 1st 2023, 1st 2024, 2nd 2022, Barron, Dadonov, Dach, Matheson, Monahan plus a few other prospects/late picks

Basically the equivalent of 5 first round picks in 1 year!
You're missing a 2nd, the one from Colorado for lehky.

Five 1sts, two 2nds, Matheson, two potential TDL UFA to be assets, and let's add Heineman deserves to this main list (at least he's like a third 2nd)...

Will be interesting to see what we get for Dadonov and Monahan. Maybe nothing. Maybe more 2nds or even a 1st.

With the 2nd pick 2022, Habs drafted Lane Hutson, a 1st round talent, no doubt about that!

In 9 years, Bergevin got one 1st pick (KK offersheet), but traded for Dvorak.

In less than 1 year... Kent Hughes got 3 1st picks (2022 is Filip Mesar, a very good prospect), Dach a 3rd overall pick in 2019 and Barron 25th overall pick in 2020, Heineman 2nd round pick 43th overall in 2020, that's very very good.

Primeau can start in Laval. The Habs can bring up Bowey or Schueneman as their 7th defenceman (both have a cap hit of $750,000). They have cap space. The Habs are not going anywhere this season, it should be more about growing their core. Taking on Monahan for one year and getting a 1st in return is worth it.
The essence of good asset management.

Gomez was actually good with 91. He became bad wearing 11
you know... every time I see Gomez name i quietly weep. If you combine the 2 FA signings - this just perpetuated our black hole of small forwards, and why I am finally happy with the new direction.

OUT:
Ryan McDonough 6'1" 215lb Rookie D

IN:
Scott Gomez 5"11 200lb 29yo
Brian Gionta 5'7" 178lb 30yo
Mike Cammalleri 5'9" 185lb 28yo

The thing is, we could have had Gomez Cammy, and Gio without giving up McDonagh. Two of those 3 were good players. Gomez was better than Drouin, though still had an even worse contract. Thank god for compliance buyouts!

Actually, in just about 8 months. Hughes was hired in January.

Really like this trade, expectations for Monahan are love, but to get a first for taking him on is the type of thing I was hoping mb would do. Who knows, maybe he’s finally recovered from injury woes and puts a decent season together and we decide to keep him.

We're going to have cap space again next summer. Man do I ever hope we use it again to get another 1st, or two.

Yeah this would be the icing on the cake to a quick turn around, but I think HuGo will be in a better position to do sone roster building of their own , so this may no longer be the plan come this time next year.

Yeah we'll have see. A lot will depend on what happens on the ice this year:

Will we finish bottom 5 again? If so harder to imagine a quick turnaround.

Will Hoffman and Armia play well enough to be moved? Same with Gallagher. If so, that gives us more opportunity to have less dead weight and start building a winner sooner.

Will Dvorak and Anderson raise their play, stay the same, or go down in production and overall play?
