Name a team, I can probably name a flaw on their roster currently in January. The rosters that are going to ice for the 8 teams in April in the East aren't the currently constructed ones. You're crying about spilled milk at the moment.

Right, people gush about the Canes but they have Ty Smith on their PP1 and Jordan Staal as their 2C with the awful goaltending they have. Come the f*** on, lol.

Not gunna read through this whole thing but I saw some stuff. This roster personnel stuff is overblown. I said it before, at some point, the players just need to stop sucking.

Is there anyone saying they’re going to spiral out of the playoffs? I know I’m not saying that.

That’s great, but if they can’t do it consistently, well…who knows what we actually get in the playoffs.
And if we were “doing it consistently”, like say, the best regular season team ever a couple years ago, it would still mean very little once the playoffs began. “Who knows what we actually get in the playoffs” is right.

The timing of this sucks too. Right after that stretch of basically allowing the other team nothing and then to hit a skid against teams they should or have beat already makes it even more frustrating.

One silver lining - the Rangers really are THAT bad.

I knew you would come in here and fellate the Sharks. You did it last time. Only you.

This team STINKS. They had one win in their last 12 games before beating the Lightning the other night.

They went 10 games before they got their first win of the season.

This shit ass team is still on pace for 62 points and 25 wins. That's still last in the league I think?

I'm not gonna rip Grier, that was by design that the team was to be bad this year. That was no accident. But to champion this year's Sharks is really sad.

What does that tell you if the Sharks are on pace for 62 points and four of them came against the Devils?

Something tells me Askarov will be around long after Markstrom and Allen have retired. What rent-a-goalie will New Jersey have?

The same could be said of the defense and forward pipelines. Do the Devils have a Celebrini, Smith or Eklund coming anytime soon?

Dickinson and Mukhamadullin?

A now 22 year old will be around long after a couple of now 34 year olds are long retired? WOW! What a proclamation!

Do the Sharks have the current Hischier, Hughes, Hughes and Bratt right now?

Holidays on the west coast? Can't help thinking team party may have occurred sometime this week and Devils may not have been as good at "playing guilty" as some more veteran teams are.

Seattle should be a good test as to whether they can get back on track. Though the Kraken with Kakko are starting to play better.

Goal 2 on Markstrom was a way worse goal than I thought. I thought maybe that went through his arm or just to the outside, but you could have driven a semi between his legs on that.

And yup, goal 3 was not good. Off his glove and in. He had it.

That was a very Allen-like game of recently. Meltdown late.

As much as I love Nico, Celebrini is probably better than any of the players in that group already.

And if the scouting reports are accurate, Dickinson is better than any defenseman on the current Devils' roster - or in the pipeline.

the sharks had a ton of assets to sell off for draft picks. the devils also have some of the best high end young talent in the league right now. no one is saying the sharks don’t have a bright future but they suck right now and the devils shouldn’t lose 2 games to them. i guess you can pat yourself on the back for that but personally liked it better when like hughes was playing like one of the best d in the league for a month and you didn’t come around because you had nothing to complain about

Who should you believe? Sheldon Keefe or the anti-Haula and Bastian crowd on here?

I like Haula and I'm rooting for him to turn it around but the numbers don't lie with him, he's been bad. Hell if he would just stop taking so many penalties alone that would be an improvement. If he keeps up the pace he's going to have the most penalty minutes he's ever had in a season.

It’s startling how truly ineffective he has been. He seemed to have some early chemistry with Cotter and Noesen at the start of the year, but ever since, he just hasn’t contributed very much. He was not a player I pegged to struggle under Keefe.

playing with jack and bratt really gave haula a huge bump but he can’t carry a line. the third line is entirely complimentary pieces on a good line but together like this they’re not going to generate much offense at all

I looked up the last time we were swept in California, 2016-17 season with Schneider in net. That team was 9-3-3 before going to California. I don't think it will happen with this current team but that trip is what started the down fall of that season.

11/17 at Anaheim 3-2 Loss

11/19 at Los Angeles 4-2 Loss

11/21 at Anaheim 4-0 Loss

You think Celebrini is, right now, better then Nico? And Jack?

And you think Dickinson is better then Luke?

So Dickinson in the OHL is better than Luke Hughes lmao....Could eventually be better might be the way to word it...Liked him and would have been fine if they drafted him over Silayev but to say he is better than Hughes smh ....Had to listen to game not sure how Celebrini plays whole sheet but to me a lot of people severely underestimate just how good Nico is to not only put up points but how good of a two way player he is....

Bit of an aside but Dickinson's London Knights team looks to be a machine so far this year. Their back up goalie is 16-0.*

One bright spot that is hidden in this 4 game losing streak is that I think Bastian has looked really good of late. I thought Lazar looked good last night as well, hopefully he is rounding back into form.

Haula? I do feel he is an issue.

But honestly, the funny thing and I pointed this out the other day, even his PIMs are down since his pointless streak. He is on pace for a career in penalty minutes, but the amount of penalty minutes he has this year from before the drought vs after the drought started is a hilarious disparity.

As of the game his last point came in he had 19 penalty minutes on the season and only 24 games.

Since then he has 10 penalty minutes in 18 games.

He’s not even been getting on the scoresheet (as much) in penalty minutes since this pointless drought started.

This is kind of amusing (and annoying) after all the bottom 6 talk recently.

I watched only half the game, the first period - after which I turned the thing off in frustration - and the last ten minutes but I did think the fourth line had great shifts early by establishing a heavy forecheck and hitting everything in sight. The cycle game. The best they have looked for a while.

And really I don't know why we don't try to do more of that with all 4 lines.

Instead, we consistently turned the puck over, all over the ice but especially at our own blue line and in center ice, trying to make soft, fancy, lateral plays. They stole the puck and we were caught going the wrong way and actually Markstrom bailed us out repeatedly early on those.

We should have kept it simple and gone north and south. Dumped the puck behind them, made them turn, and then pinched them in. They are a young and inexperienced team but one with a lot of raw talent. So play in their end, give them nothing, and wait for them to make their mistakes. If you are patient you know you are going to get a ton of chances when their coverages break down.

By engaging them in a free skating, pond hockey game and trading chances you play to their only strength and give them the chance to beat you the only way they possibly can beat you. We played them the stupidest way we could have.

Keefe was trying to get us to forecheck early in the season. We need to get back to that. Remember the goal that Bratt set up for Jack when we beat Chicago. Since that time we seem to have gotten away from the entire idea. When nothing else is working it's a reliable play to fall back on. We should stop trying to be so damn fancy all the time. Our talent skating in open ice is actually not that much better than anyone else's right now. Jack and Bratt in particular have great agility in small spaces. Meir and Nico too. Exploit that. This is not the 2022-23 roster.
