Florida currently has Mackie Samoskevich on the 2nd line. Jack Roslovic is on Carolina’s top line. Conor Geekie is on Tampa’s 2nd line. Max Pacioretty is on Toronto’s 2nd line. Boston’s 2nd line is Zacha-Coyle-Geekie.

Lots of mid everywhere

Fans ignore the fact that GM's play for the deadline and then play it by ear once it happens. The best team in NHL history, in the 22-23 Bruins, added Orlov and Tyler Bertuzzi at the deadline STILL while breaking an NHL record. Every East team will add something, it's just who/how.

I’ve been a Devils fan since I was 11 until tonight. Simply put, they are a team content with being bottom five on an annual basis. If a team that I’ve put so much time, money, and emotion into isn’t going to put a modicum of effort in return, what choice do I have? LET’S GO CAPS!!!!!!!!

Ok, that’s it. I’m locking this place down.

I've also been a fan for over 30 years and if they somehow spiral out of the playoffs once again that might be enough for me. The last 12 years have been miserable (outside of 22-23).

I really thought they were a mentally strong, defensively solid sc contender, but it seems they are just a weak bubble team.

People gushing about the top 6 being an issue while the Capitals have PLD and "Taylor Raddysh" there, maybe it's ok to get contributions elsewhere in the lineup. Making the moves in the bottom 6 were able to alleviating the pressure from our superstars. They've done all they can this year and gone on stretches where they've been white hot. Timo is the only one who isn't getting rewarded via points but he's literally the engine of this team in that regard.
Raddysh has more points than Palat, lol.
Ignoring McMichael on the depth chart is interesting, I thought he was playing in the top 6 but maybe bc Ovi was out?

All of this is overreaction, but the 'we're fine, best team in the league' stuff is pretty unhinged too.

We're a young team with a ceiling that looks like the Rangers game and a basement that looks like all these shutouts to bad teams.

I think the next two are must-wins.

I have not looked at our schedule beyond the next 4 games, but we have Tampa and Florida at home right after the humpty Kraken and Rangers to end the road trip.

Though we usually seem to be better against the good teams, but Tampa is not one of the teams we can say that about. We haven't beaten them at home since the night Ray Shero was fired. And I'm pretty sure Louis Domingue was in goal for us. And we haven't beaten them at all since a Bratt hat trick in Tampa in March of 2023, and even that was our only win against them that year.

I don't even wanna know who we play after that. I'm going away for the weekend after next and I know there's back to back home matinee games, with one of them against the Ottawa Travis Green's.

I do know that the schedule will not feature any of the Sharks, Ducks or Hawks. We're done with the first two for the year. Whether that's a good thing or not.
But I thought this was a must win game. So what do we do when we lose the must win games?

And Seattle surely can beat us on Monday (they played us tough in Jersey and we won because we got a couple of very fortunate bounces) and the way things are going we are going to be squeezing the sticks there too I have to believe.

This one just stings that’s all. The result and the way it happened. There’s just nothing to do about it.

Does anyone know why Marky was barking at the officials at the end? Did Siegs get tripped up? I didn't get a good look.

Raddysh isn't going to be their top 6 winger come April just like how Palat won't be ours if Fitz does his job, that's the whole point.

And right, I've been saying that since the final buzzer today. There's definitely a happy medium between this team pre Christmas break and this L4, it's up to management to figure out the roster fat and trim before we get to the playoffs and most likely play Carolina again in a series which sent this team into a tailspin mentally after 2023.

Does anyone know why Marky was bathing at the officials at the end? Did Siegs get tripped up? I didn't get a good look.

Siegs tried to clear, it hit the ref and stayed in which led to the Sharks goal.

I thought we outplayed them badly when we played them at home.

But instead of scoring 5 goals against Grubauer, which we probably should have, we barely scored 3.

I’m still f***ing pissed about this. You come into this game have already lost three in a row and a few days removed from shitting the bed against a shit team. You need to right the ship to avoid a long losing streak, and you have the opportunity to do it against a squad with one of the worst records in the league. What do you do with that opportunity…you come out and play like dogshit again. Then in spite of that with less than a minute to go and the chance to at least steal a point, you give up a backbreaking goal and lose in a horrible fashion - the same thing you already did just a few days earlier against another bad team! And you’re doing this with a fully healthy squad.

I don’t know how anyone can just wave this away as not meaning anything in terms of the quality of this team. It’s giving me the same bad vibe as that Vancouver game last year.

It’s gonna take a long winning streak to convince me this was just some blip.

Lolz are you looking at CBS sports line or some such nonsense?
Verhaege barkov Reinhart
Luotsarinen lundell Tkachuk
Rodriguez Bennet Boquist

While luotsarinen is nothing to write home about, they all have about the same or better points as Palat in fewer games. So do basically all the players you listed

Mackie is their Mercer equiv on the fourth line.

I'm not quite as worried about this one turning into the Vancouver home loss from last year, but I agree with your entire first paragraph.

It was a pathetic effort, against a pathetic joke team. Anaheim are another joke team. I'm sure THG is also fellating the Sharks ''Hard workers! Exciting team! Don't quit! They'll make ya pay! Yay! Wow!'' in his game review for this one lol.

Like I said earlier, if this 4 game losing streak came on an Eastern road trip against Carolina, Washington, Tampa Bay and Florida, rather than Carolina, Anaheim, LA and San Jose, I think it probably wouldn't be as much of a cause for alarm.

But because they're burning up some of their softest remaining strength of schedule by losing points late and getting none to humpty loser teams like Anaheim and San Jose (for the second time this year) it's really I guess sickening is the right word.

We deserved to lose it much earlier, but the fact that we got 30 seconds from a point and like 3-something minutes from a point against Anaheim, only to lose both in regulation really is sickening.
As soon as they dug the puck out and got it moving towards our zone I felt it slipping. When Siegenthaler hit the ref things started moving in slow motion lol.
