refs have been hilarious tonight

also, what is it with all these pinches? Reminds me of rudderless Lindy Ruff hockey. We've given up more odd-man rushes tonight than the last month combined.

The dmen do play fairly aggressive in this system from what I’ve seen. But the execution seems to be way off. Forwards aren’t covering. Dmen are picking bad times to pinch. And there’s been a bunch of turnovers as well leading to odd man rushes against since the break. Boys need to work through it and get back to what they were doing prior to Christmas.

I'm not gonna feel much better about how we've been playing if we win this game, but I'll at least be glad we stopped the bleeding.

Unless we have a huge period.

Sometimes all it takes is a win to get things back on track no matter who it’s against or how you played. Kinda similar in a sense to how in the 2012 playoffs they barely got by a meh Florida team in 7 and it catapulted them to a SCF run. Just get that win baby.

cotter is basically wood with slower skating and better hands but same dumb hockey iq

I legit lol'ed.

It's mostly true. Much better hands though, many levels above.
Does he really have much better hands though? Wood has his down goal scoring years and he had his up goal scoring years.

He averaged 16 goals per 82 games as a Devil.

Cotter is currently on pace for 16 goals this season, but he only has one goal in like the last 20 games or something? He was pacing for over 30 goals at one point.

Maybe they're about the same. It's close. I don't think Cotter has much better hands, if any better though.

Maybe hands isn't the right word, shiftiness. Cotter has better hands and shiftiness. Much better than wood in that comparison of tools.

They’re completely different types of scorers.

Wood’s a volume shooter, he had his big scoring seasons when he managed to shoot over 10% twice (11.2% & 13.4%).

Cotter is a sniper. Last season was a disaster for him because he didn’t shoot +15%.

Us having other guys playing above their value doesn't make dougie any worse.

Value is the result you get when you calculate salary and benefit from said salary.

Do we get more value out of Dougie at $9M or Luke and Kovacevic at less than $2M combined. The answer is the later because it helps you sign other people.

Our other 5 D costs less than $15M while Dougie costs $9M. What is more valuable?

Once again, we live in a salary cap world.
