Before the pandemic, the league’s idea was to use the 6 cross-conference games for home one year-road the next with the same teams, then rotate. MLS partially has gone away from that.
The thing is that the Timbers went home and home with Miami the two years before Messi arrived. So (fart noise)…
There was a point a few weeks ago when the front office froze season ticket sales. They told a couple of people who were trying to buy that they were freezing sales in wait of the schedule, and if Miami cam here, they’d raise the season ticket prices. Cue a few gag reflexes. Anyway, while I suspect the remnants of the rotation system are the biggest issue, I also wouldn’t mind if this was the hint to the Timbers front office that Merritt Paulson should sell the club.
Never mind that I have doubts Messi would play on Portland’s turf. Just a hunch, right, Vancouver?
