The Bulldogs select Reed Larson, the NCAA star defenseman who was top-10 in NHL shots for 6 consecutive seasons, going to three NHL all star games and scoring in the 1981 Canada Cup, the tough and offensive defenseman immediately thereafter captained the Red Wings for two seasons.

Good draft guys!

A fun exercise in hockey history for late summer.

Next week is September.

Do you guys want a 2-round playoffs?

We'd need pp and pk units, a 'C' and two 'A's (tony d & Leaf Lander).

After they are on all our posts, then I'd ask a past ATDer to tally the votes.

Since you asked...

Art Ross wants AGGRESSIVE players (he not only chose the Boston franchise's nickname Bruins - cuz that brown bear is aggressive - but he openly headhunted refs and paid a dman who cheapshotted a ref after he requested it, resulting in that player's lifetime ban for the flagrant shot, but Ross paid the dman, and teammates howled against the lifetime ban, but pre-TV era it took a few years for the league to respond and overturn the lifelong ban of the player given the coach's direction, but by then the nhl player was pushing 40 and said gtfoh, or thereabouts, and dissed the low-paying nhl gig for his day job (life pre-WWII).

So,...

No way on this green earth would Ross put Spezza on the 1st line. And little "The Eel" on the 2nd? No way Jose.

Mike Richards was a talented a-hole. He was hated. But he was also talented and an NHL captain. Ross would put Richards gladly on the top line, relectantly admit Spezza is a talented scoring line pivot (grumble, grumble). Troy Murray would be heralded and Henry's slippery nonphysical *** would be put on 8-minute 4th line sheltered even strength, 1st pp line duty.

Thus,... in conclusion... either adjust your centers or replace your coach!

Aside: Liut vs. Kipper... isn't that a goalie competition for starter job?

Really surprised that Hamilton didn't run away with this. There's not really a substandard pick on the whole team. Cape Breton is ok but it kinda sucks that everyone else's backup is better than his starter. I respect checkers but there's absolutely no firepower on Calgary, they were an easy last place for me.

Thank you @seventieslord but i thought you'd pound my squad for its lack of many penalty killers. Laprade probably owns the ice every time he's on, but my 3rd line is more like a 2nd line. I usually pride myself on a true Bottom-6 GOTTA-HAVE-MORE-THAN-OFFENSE that GMs like Pat Quinn and Kevin Lowe have asserted and others have agreed with, but, there was too much friggin' offensive talent available.

My team may lose if it's too much of an all-star team and plays like such.

That said, my Bulldogs can score lights out (just try to compare vs.x or even pre-NHL stats), has arguably the greatest net presence powerplay specialist who should have a place on any all-time team (Dino) and... the Hasek of this draft, the best goaltender, hands down. The #1 dman also may win this draft's Norris.

But I am scared of the strengths on other teams, especially Cape Breton. That top line and Sutter, Thoms, Muller... damn difference makers. But Mallen in the top 6? (In the draft is surprising enough), and while shot-blocking Ludwig should make all our MLD line-ups, the pairings are shaky and the goaltending is flash-in-the-pan peak (maybe overrated), decent enough to be not an egregious pick, but not top-3 or 4 in this draft!

Mallen is more then a point a game player for his career and a speedster

Meanwhile Quick was the driving force behind the kings 2 cup wins. His competive edge and desire to win helped to put the kings over the top.

Quick lead his team to 2 cups and is closing in on 400 career wins

22nd all time in wins
23rd all time in SO

I don't think Thomas is better than Quick but otherwise I agree with you.
