MLD 2022 DRAFT Thread

Ludwig has not been MLD because he is great at what he does: shot block, primarily, and take his man, one on one. He is an awesome 6/7 ATD guy, 4/5 MLDer.

... maybe your just too young to recall him in his prime and just recall him in his back 9 years
Gee. I was in middle school / junior high school (my last two years of competitive hockey personally) when he was an NHL rookie on my beloved Habs. I know every year of his career (until he left for the desert).

I was THERE at Pacific Coliseum waving a towel in '82 as part of the original TOWEL POWER!

My first hockey hero was Dryden, then Savard, Langway (i played defense in minor hockey), then Bourque, Coffey, Gretzky (didn't want to, had to - it was impossible to be neutral: either he was a hero or a loathed opponent. You cheered or you cursed. I cheered!

Ranked 24th in 100 Ranger Greats, HHOF center Edgar Laprade was an elite checking center who had great passing skill. He is now a Hamilton Bulldog.

Hamilton selects a 3-time Stanley Cup champion who was a 1st team all star his last cup regular season, twice a 2nd team all star thereafter, also a two-time Lady Byng: left winger Sid Smith.

There's still lots of time for him to screw it up, but at this very moment, if I'm a voter I'm voting leaf lander first place here.
I'd expect no less from you. But you misuse the word "screw". You.

Really? I'd expect the exact opposite of myself. I don't think I've ever voted his team anything but last place!

(Good to know I can't post in this thread without you private messaging me telling me to "f*** off"!)

Wow are you drunk

My team has never been the worst team yr in and yr out but you openly admitted to voting me last every vote shows me your lack of integrity

Hope we can use this to exclude old gms from voting in the draft. To lessen corruption and politics

My team has never been the worst team yr in and yr out

In my opinion it has been.

To be fair, I can't say 100% for sure that I've always had your team last every single time. There might have been a noob or two I had below you.

but you openly admitted to voting me last every vote shows me your lack of integrity

This year I voted blindly. I did not know a thing about any team's name or GM - only the players they drafted and their lineup configuration. Look who I voted last.

It's true, I don't like the teams you draft. After 14 years I think it's fair to say that. Please rest assured that it has nothing to do with you. I quite like you. (off the board much more than on!)

I like the team you've drafted so far. Take the Ws from me when you can get them.

Input is always welcomed! Even if you come in hot.

To be fair, it is a bit of a hot take, and it really can't be anything but that when you're like 10 rounds in.

And if I was super impressed to see someone snagged Matthews at #1 in the MLD, I should be even more impressed that someone took an even better player at #28.

(not "better" but "greater" as in "has accomplished more so far" and therefore is better for the MLD)

Still, being able to grab his highly successful partner in crime at RW was a coup IMO and that's going to be a real tough combo in a league where Persson, Carlyle, Jovo and Egan are (presumably) being drafted to play top pairing roles.

The newest Bulldog is Dino Ciccarelli, the 600+ goal, 1200 point HHOF right winger renowned for his pesty play around the crease, drawing a lot of penalties with his relentless screening of goalies by the crease, getting knocked down four times on a shift and daring the refs to not call the 5th time he's crosschecked. You can't quantify the value he provided to the powerplay. Yes, he is top-10 in career powerplay goals, but for every pp goal he scored he helped two or three goals be scored by his antics diverting attention, blocking vision and drawing additional calls. He was remarkable. There is no ATD squad that couldn't benefit from drafting him as at least a 4th liner-2nd pp unit on an all-time great championship club.
