Hicks swinging out of his shoes as usual. Pathetic. Hope we can trade him in the offseason. He went up there with no plan. This after all of his teammates showed incredible discipline (finally) generating walks, hits, and runs.

That was stressful. Still not happy with Boone. Certainly will take the W and relax the next few days until this starts up again next week.

Crazy game.

Yankees have been terrible against the Rays this season but let's go ahead and beat them too.

Boone is a terrible manager, Sanchez is terrible defensively, but made some key plays offensively. Stressful and exhausting win.

I still don’t think this team goes anywhere. I’m glad we made it out of round 1, but we only have one Cole and our pitching overall just isn’t good enough.

Missing Sevy, Paxton, German and Kahnle is a lot to overcome. Cashman didn't address this.

Hicks is not a number three hitter.

He's an extremely weird hitter. He's a low average hitter but he walks a ton (3rd highest BB% this year) and has a slightly above average K% so he's not striking out a ton. I think they have him third to break up the RH bats and to get on base for the middle of the order. He's flawed but I'm more annoyed with his getting hurt every year and how it's made him timid in CF. He had a play on that game tying double and he pulled up on it.

Chap looks real good so far

That splitter/forkball he developed is filthy, gives him a better off-speed pitch to RH batters and going forward, I think it's really going to help him as his FB velo starts to drop.

Breaking: I was actually impressed by that series.

Funny enough, I'm kinda was ho-hum on it. More of the same as they showed the same strengths: working counts, not chasing pitches, power, Cole, Chapman. ....and the same weaknesses: the rest of the pitching staff and Boone's in-game managing.

You know I'm usually positive but I fear they'll get curb stomped by the Rays but I guess we'll see.

He's definitely made some really questionable plays on fly balls this year.
