I'm really excited about opening day. My starters today only include Skubal, Sale, Valdez, and Greene. Both NYC teams will be WC teams.

The Mets I can see but who's upending the Yankees? Boston?

Am I missing something about Oswaldo Cabera? He just does not seem very good to me yet we are starting him at 3b. Does he have some sort of great untapped potential?

went from Cardiac Clay to Defibrillator Devin - I guess

Wells' HR was the first leadoff opening day homerun by a catcher in MLB history

you're not missing anything, he's the best of a bunch of bad options.

If Juan Soto hits .280 with 29 homeruns and 95 RBIs will people celebrate or feel that is not a big deal for that money?

I'm going to be annoying and say that two of those numbers don't really matter to me.

If his OBP is above .400 and he's putting up 6+ WAR then I'm happy with it.

He isn't a good fielder and for the amount of money he was paid, I would imagine offense at or just below the highest tier in the game is going to be the expectation.

He usually delivers on that. The numbers you suggested seem low but if he does that and walks 160 times, that becomes a different story.

Yeah, he's a career 160 OPS+ entering his prime. If he's healthy, he's the least of the Mets worries. They have to get that rotation healthy.

On the Yanks. Man, it feels like just another rudderless year where their sheer salary structure gets them to the playoffs but with no chance of succeeding there. Rinse, repeat. Phil??? Phil??? Phil Connors?!?! I thought that was us...
